Had this sitting in my frig for a while now and I was waiting for a good reason to open it up. My reason..........Monday. What better cure for the Monday blues than a Trappist ale? Pours a murky brownish-red with a thick fluffy tan head. Aroma is slightly more subdued that I was expecting. Hints of bitter fruits, molasses, apricot, banana, and a trace of alcohol. Flavor is akin to the aroma. Not in your face, but coats your palate in a pleasant array of flavors. Raisin, caramelized brown sugar, slight hop bitterness, and just the right amount of warmth from the alcohol. Feels very soft on the palate. Overall a very easy to drink, pleasant beer. I prefer the Rochefort 6 but this one still makes a solid appearance.

A- Pours a murky brown hue with a huge, chunky, 2.5 finger beige head. S- Slightly yeasty, hints of chocolate T- Chocolate, sweet pear, cherry, slight hop bitterness. M- Medium bodied with medium/high carbonation. D- Very drinkable. The high carbonation detracts a little for me but i’m sure it is good with some age on it.
