Bottle. The pour was a dark murky chestnut brown with a slight reddish hue and an average sized (1-2 finger) light tan creamy head that lasted throughout with excellent sheeting of lacing which basically coated the glass. The aroma was of a toasted biscuit malt and a sweaty Belgian yeast with notes of caramel, toffee, banana and some dark fruit (plums and overripe grapes). The taste had a strong malty presence and a mild sweetness with a hint of banana and caramel early on, and then slowly transformed into a much yeastier taste with a large dose of dark fruit and a mild toffee presence towards the end. The flavor lasted a good amount of time after the swallow with a sweet yeasty flavor and a mild fruity ester that was left to linger on the taste buds. Mouthfeel was somewhere between light and medium in body with a creamy and a tad oily texture and a medium carbonation. Overall an extremely tasty and very easy to drink Dubbel, and is a brew that hides all notion of somewhat moderate ABV...

Bottle at Tokishirasu, Kyoto. Dark muddy amber, fine thin head. Aroma of sticky malt, cola lozenge. Fine mouthfeel. Flavoursome, but not overly sticky. Light date, molasses, and fruity candy. Pretty good.

Pours a clouded amber with frothy lacing tan head. Notes of honey, a bit of stonefruit, yeast and hints of banana. Taste is moderately sweet with a bit of wood and a dry full finish.

Bottle at home. This struck me as a typical Belgian brew. Persistent head, bubbly carbonation, malty nose, slightly sweet and bitter taste. Fairly strong in alcohol compared with the other elements.

Buona dubbel, anche se assolutamente non ai livelli della sua sorella Prior 8 e di quella di La Trappe. Comunque, da provare.

0,33 bottles purchased in Rome. Pours hazy chestnut skin color, creamy and tick ivory head which lasts long. Typical dubbel oily appearance. The nose is full of spicy notes, prunes and surprisingly grassy light notes. Mouth: not much of sweet notes but rather bitter overall feel along with malty notes and coconut aftertaste. Round feel of a balanced beer in perfect style. I assume that drunk at room temperature and with a bit of aging this beer offers it's best. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
