4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
The aroma is serious Belgian funk. Sour raisins. Sweet grapes. Complex and great.
Blush-red appearance, decent half-finger of head. Hazy, lots of carbonation.
The flavor is notes of white wine and sweet grape juice. Spicy Belgian funk. Slightly tawny. Sweet, grapey finish. Like Welch’s Concorde grapes.
The feel is fizzy, creamy, and chalky, with an ashy finish. Sweeter than expected. Very grapey after a funky start.

Nose is herbs, cinnamon, fruit cake, yeast. Taste is belgian yeast, pepper and cloves, leading to malt, toast and a sweeter finish, with some grass. It’s a touch carbonated and a little thin for me. A really nice dubble, which avoids the oversweetness of the style.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: murky, dark-ish copper & brown with some off-white sediment particles inside the brew. Khaki foam rests on top; creamy, thick, & long-lasting. Aroma contains notes of ripe, sour grapes, apple skins, tons of phenol, toasted malts, steel-y caramel, earthy esters, & Belgian yeast. A mild sweet-tartness is present in the back-end. Taste is full of sweet, sugar-coated grapes & plums with some cranberry notes that come with a mild tartness mid-palate. Earthy, dirty hops come alive with sweet fruit esters behind them; spices more apparent with time (mainly clove). Touch of finishing bitterness, aftertaste of wine-soaked bread & clove. Solid dubbel, good balance of earthiness, bitterness, sweetness, & even a touch of tartness.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Chilled bottle, BB 2015. Dark red, sparkling, quite clear, big bubbly white head. Looks decent. Smell - Belgian yeast, a touch of swimming pool, malty. Body is medium, quite foamy. Taste - milky coffee up front, maybe some dark fruits coming through, finish is a bit nondescript. Overall, there’s not a lot to describe here. It’s OK at best. At least it looks quite good.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
