An enjoyable ride of caramel malts and sweet fruitiness add to a smooth body that masks the alcohol very well. I beer that is both fulling yet surprisingly leaves room for another, and another and... | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 4, 2009 Bottle (2009) in a Chimay goblet; poured very watery, with virtually no head- alarmed me slightly. Color of honey/caramel and the soapy bubbles dance for a while on top. Lovely aroma w/ plenty of fruits, plums and apricots being most noticeable; flavor is rich and yeasty, with plums, raisins and figs in alcohol, although the alcohol is more complementary than anything- does an excellent job of keeping the effects of the abv in check; finishes rather dry and vinous, making it quite quenching. Thin bodied, which only adds to its quenching properties. A very tasty brew that quite surprised me as to how much I liked it, but then again, it is from St. Bernardus. judasbeer (242), Budapest, Hungary
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 27, 2009 Pours hazy orange-brown with tons of yeast sediment and diminished, creamy, well-lacing head. Aroma of alcoholic figs, fresh strawberries, plums with spicy edge. Good balance between the gentle toffee and dried fruity sweetness and the crisp, floral hoppy and coriander sipciness. Medium dry and moderate sweet smooth mouthfeel, thick, oily body with heavy and long dry, peppery finale. Not very far from perfection. dimenhetfield (173), , Florida, USA

Has a great somewhat fruity nose. Not too heavy on the tounge. A very nice beer. matt7215 (956), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
