Aroma is underwhelming -- smells like bread with a bit of spice. I feel like I should slice this rather than drink it. Flavor is smooth, bready malt, both spicy and sweet. This is one beer that I actually noticed the lacing -- very nice. And the mouthfeel is there -- it’s ridiculously smooth. Overall though, just pretty underwhelmed by this solid but not spectacular beer. fluffy (229), Florida, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 18, 2009 Pours dark sienna-brown with some chunks and a puffy, three-finger, cream-colored head, thick and lasting lacing. Smells of caramel, apple, fig, leather, a hard wood of some sort, and some alcohol. Medium, velvety rich body. Tastes much like the smell, with just a little bit of citrus in the finish. There’s a lot of complexity in the malts, and though it’s a little on the sweet side, it’s fairly well balanced. gabbama (115), Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 12, 2009 Bottle Pours a deep amber with a big creamy tan head. The was lasting and gave good lacing. Has a sweet malty aroma with touches of alcohol. Blended very well. Has a good sweet flavor of malts. A real good aftertaste and slight alcohol burn. Has a watery to oily texture. This was not as good to me as the 12 but was very drinkable and good. MoDog (916), Griffith, Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 12, 2009 11.2oz bottle (Best by 17 04 13) and served in a tulip. Hazy, burnt caramel pour with a frothy, thick head of tan foam that slowly settled into a lasting cap. Excellent lacing. The aroma included dark fruits, slightly vinous alcohol, raisins, and caramelized sugar. The flavor had red apple skins, pitted fruits, caramel, a hint of underlying chocolate, and some mellow alcohol. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied and had a moderate amount of soft carbonation. Dangerously drinkable and very tasty. Well done!
