On tap at The Malt House - Pours a dark brown with a thin head of tiny bubbles. Aroma is underwhelming -- smells like bread with a bit of spice. I feel like I should slice this rather than drink it. Flavor is smooth, bready malt, both spicy and sweet. This is one beer that I actually noticed the lacing -- very nice. And the mouthfeel is there -- it’s ridiculously smooth. Overall though, just pretty underwhelmed by this solid but not spectacular beer.

on tap at Tank’s Tap Room in Tampa. dark red/black with a long lasting off white head. aroma is heavily alcohol with some spiciness. flavor is of overripe fruits like banana, figs, apples and plums. heavily malted with a creaminess that lingers on the mouth and tounge. its very good, but i like the 12 better.

Pours dark sienna-brown with some chunks and a puffy, three-finger, cream-colored head, thick and lasting lacing. Smells of caramel, apple, fig, leather, a hard wood of some sort, and some alcohol. Medium, velvety rich body. Tastes much like the smell, with just a little bit of citrus in the finish. There’s a lot of complexity in the malts, and though it’s a little on the sweet side, it’s fairly well balanced.

Dark reddish brown with a thin, persistent beige head. Mild aroma of caramel, dark fruit and a bit of banana. Slightly sweet malty flavor with good fruit notes. The floral hops and some yeast come through on the finish.

With many thanks to HogTownHarry. Appearance: Dark cherry red with a small off white head. Aroma: Dark fruits, caramel, hazelnut, banana, light alcohol and blackcurrant. Flavour: Very chewy, nice malt and nut flavour to start with hops coming through, burnt sugar, yeast and floral banana in the finish. Very enjoyable.

Okay, Im starting to think this mixed sixpack of St. Bernardus is just out dated? There all over carbonated and tart.

Bottle Pours a deep amber with a big creamy tan head. The was lasting and gave good lacing. Has a sweet malty aroma with touches of alcohol. Blended very well. Has a good sweet flavor of malts. A real good aftertaste and slight alcohol burn. Has a watery to oily texture. This was not as good to me as the 12 but was very drinkable and good.

11.2oz bottle (Best by 17 04 13) and served in a tulip. Hazy, burnt caramel pour with a frothy, thick head of tan foam that slowly settled into a lasting cap. Excellent lacing. The aroma included dark fruits, slightly vinous alcohol, raisins, and caramelized sugar. The flavor had red apple skins, pitted fruits, caramel, a hint of underlying chocolate, and some mellow alcohol. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied and had a moderate amount of soft carbonation. Dangerously drinkable and very tasty. Well done!
