SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 15, 2009 330 ml bottle - pours clear, dark brown with thin off-white head; aromas of figs, sugar, dank fruit, yeast and bread; candy malt, thick, dry and fruity; strong, but smooth and tasty; super rich and malty, great stuff Belgians4Me (6), Arkansas, USA does not count Oct 14, 2009 My wife is away so I’m numbing the pain with delicious beverage treats. This is my Chimay Red upgrade. It’s dark and cloudy with a good head that fades fairly quickly. I was pretty impressed with the appearance...lots of cool floaties. The aroma is of dark fruits and roasty. Sweet on the tongue and pretty dry. A full-bodied dubbel. I’m a fan. But, then again, I like dubbel’s. ericandersnavy (1039), crossroads, Texas, USA Oct 14, 2009 bottle thanks to fratto. poured amberish with a white head. aroma was straight up mac & cheese. flavor was caramel with dark fruits. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Oct 10, 2009 bottle thanks to fratto. brown with a cream head. nose is slight chocolate, spices and yeast. overly carbonated with a yeasty spice flavor. jaghana (92), Strasbourg, France Oct 1, 2009 Bottle 33. Dark amber beer quite cloudy with a small head. Smells of caramel and malt, bitterness at the finish. Hops part is very less. Yeast brings fruit smells like cassis or apple. The feeling is vey less alcoolic, nice belgian beer. mesperon (133), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA Sep 29, 2009 Dark hazy copper/brown with huge rocky head. Candy sweet aroma. Fluffy carbonation and full maouthfeel. Sweet on the tongue to start, light roast and caramel, develops into citrussy hop bite, surprisingly dry finish, even though some caramel lingers, along with prickly pepper on top of tongue. Interesting spice notes from yeast and alcohol. Good, but more simple than I expected.
