Aroma is yeasty with light fruit, and a lot of malt. Flavor is very malty with caramel charcters, and light fruity notes. Yeast is also dominant in the flavo. Light roasted characters as well as hints of alcohol are also prevalent. Good brew. Pretty well blended but not extremely smooth on the palate. Good but not amazing. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 28, 2008 My favorite of the line - a big beer, with a complex mix of fruits - raisins and pears. Best candidate for storing for a few years. JonnyDr (132), , South Yorkshire, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Pours brown with tan head. Spice, malt and caramel. Fairly good but pales in comparison to Rochefort 8. benwah22 (14), , Florida, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 26, 2008 Me likey. Unlike their Christmas Ale this one actually has an aroma. Sweet scent, raisons, malt and sugars come through. The head that came out was pretty bold, large, tawny brown and laced well.
The taste was nothing to write home about, standard for a quality Belgian - but didn’t blow me away. Tingly mouth feel due to the carbonation but not a watery feel.
Certainly a quality beer. Not something that makes me say ’wow,’ but good nonetheless. a10555 (124), West Chester, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 21, 2008 Poured a nice dark caramel brown. The head started the minute I opened the bottle, but I didn’t lose any of it. Tastes like a liquid heath bar. I light chocolate big toffee flavor and a bit of a spicy finish. Good stuff. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 21, 2008 A huge head the bottle to a pint glass one that requires patience. Dark brown and cloudy with that big tan head. Gazillions of bubbles can barely be seen. The aroma is big and full of delicious fruit, yeast, and earth. Delightful. Flavor is toffee, passion fruit, citrus fruit, candi sugar, zingy spice, and alcohol. Complex but straightforward. An excellent beer! BeerBunker (607), Burbank, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 20, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours murky brown with a tan head that never fully dissipates. Very heavy on the carbonation. Aroma is of malt, spice, candi sugars, mild fruit, and brown sugar. Also a mild presence of alcohol can be detected. Taste is very malty and yeasty with an underlying breadiness. Nice notes of bananas, spice, and citrus. Has a nice lingering hop sweetness. Mouthfeel is very creamy and sticky. The alchol warms long after after each sip ends. An overly drinkable Belgian, wouthout being overly unique. sebletitje (1903), Tampa, Florida, USA

Aroma of nice dark fruits and yeast.
Taste is more pronounced than the Pater 6 version. We again see the use of dark fruits in a more prominent way, and candi sugar. This time around, the 8% abv is more noticeable. Leaves a nice warming feel on the palate.
