Gorgeous dark red brown color with a short lasting off-white head. Flavor is all about figs, plums, oranges, in a complex blend, and not overpoweringly sweet. Lovely dryish finish. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 30, 2008 Very good beer. I think its similar, only a better version of the Pater 6. I’m drinking this out of the official St. Bernardus Glass, which I do believe aids in the flavor. Next time I’ll buy the big bottle. TaktikMTL (2764), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 27, 2008 Draught at the Trappist. Dark, opaque brown with a smallish head that leaves a lasting slick of foam. Aroma of yeast, brown sugar and dried fruit. The flavor has dark, caramelized sugars and dried fruits, with some licorice and solid yeastiness. Plenty of body, but not too sweet or bitter. Just balanced and drinkable. This is a really well done beer, but nothing jumps out and grabs you, with kinda relegates it to the solid-but-not-exceptional crowd. The again, I’ll definitely have to give a bottle a try; you never know with these Belgians. MatSciGuy (630), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 27, 2008 [Bottle] Pours a murky brown with some floaties. A huge, rocky beige head of fine bubbles that goes away pretty quickly. Aroma is mostly raisins, caramel, and belgian yeast. Flavor follows pretty well, with a little bit of alcohol towards the end. Also has a little bit of tartness that hangs around the edges of your tongue. Very light in the mouth and quite drinkable.
