Aroma is dominated by yeast, some bananna and fig and alcohol. This is one of the best tasting beers I’ve had though, perhaps its because this is only my second tap belgian. HUGE sweet dark chocolate up front with a toffee middle and finishing with some bananna and raisin notes. This beer absolutely rocks from the tap. I’ve had it bottled and it wasn’t close to as good. goldmember (8), Great Falls, Montana, USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 21, 2008 Pours a thick rocky tan head. Smells of dark fruit and sweet malts. A good amount of carbonation but flows nicely across the palate. Tastes like it smells. Leaves a slight alcohol sting at the end. Can’t wait to have another! georgekappus (296), Brookfield, Connecticut, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 19, 2008 Bottle immediately frothed out of bottle when open. Beautiful dark red carmel brown color with light tan head. Wonderful chocolate, carmel and malt aroma. My first thought at first taste is perfect. Like that first taste of home made dark bread that makes you glad to be alive. Sweet and yeasty, dark grains and dark fruit, stone hearth and roaring fire, friends and family. Slight alcohol aftertaste just enough to say beer. Suttree (2708), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 13, 2008 So Mention that I was 2 away from havig rated 100 Belgian Stron Ales, and Springslicker takes it a personal challenge to make sure I reach that milestone. Firt, he brings out a Victory V10, then this ("I can’t believe you’ve not had this..."). So this one pours brown with a biege headReally nice mix of aromas and flavors, a lot of rich dark bread mixed with fruit like rasin and prune. Never overbreaing or harsh. Thanks! | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 12, 2008 Surprisingly high carbonation pops the cap when opened and creates a huge, frothy off white head that will not go away! The color of this brew is simply beautiful. Like a rootbeer hard candy. Yeast sediment swirls aroud the tulip glass. The nose is rich and complex, with dried figs, raisins, maple, summer fruits and sugars. The flavor is equally complex, and equally enjoyable. It starts with a slight sugary caramel flavor and fades to the dried fruit influence. Ever evolving beer that finishes with a clean earthy taste. Great brew. agl108 (503), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured dark brown with lovely off-white head. Very complex with notes of sweet sugar, plums, and figs. Love those fucking monks. emacgee (1864), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 11, 2008 Pours a ruddy murky brown with a one finger creamy tan head. The aroma is fruity, raisins, Belgian, sweet, very nice aroma. Nice flavor, fruity, Belgian, light alcohol, not very standoutish, very solid though. The mouthfeel is incredible, an explosion of carbonation that fills the mouth with bubbles. Feels creamy. Nice Belgian, needs to be a bit more upfront in the taste and aroma.
