asmithbeer (42), USA Apr 23, 2007 Very deep amber pour with decent head. Aroma is mild but good, dark and sour. Flavor is yeasty and sour with a dark maltiness. Very good. Palate is nice too, not too thick like the 12. mj (4971), Colorado, USA Apr 23, 2007 Sweet in the nose, sweet flavor. Burnt toast and some light spicy yeast, some maple and even bacon scent, some brown sugar dough, that’s the heaviest scent. Doughy, chewy and thin but not watery at all, more like doughy, I keep coming back to that word, but for this beer it’s probably the best descriptor. YK23 (253), Haifa, Israel Apr 23, 2007 Updated: Aug 14, 2007Bottle: drinking it as a toast with my brother and father for our Independence day, well it’s a really nice beer, light-medium bodied. quite malty, fruity, yeasty, some honey, some molasess, dried fruits, spicy and nice bitterness.
CHEERS! Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Apr 22, 2007 11.2 oz bottle, best by date marked 07 12 06. Geez, I hope it’s not stale... lol. Hazy brown with a dense off white head. Sweet, vinous nose, malty, plummy and light molasses. Flavor is full of dark fruits and molasses, sweetly malty. Medium to light body, beautiful sheet of tight lace. Alcohol is well hidden, but a light burn in the gullet hints at the 8%. A bit of bread and spice pops up in the finish. Excellent. jake65 (1657), Williston, North Dakota, USA Apr 22, 2007 Bottle: Pours a cloudy brown, on the lighter side, with a large beige head. Nose is fruity, yeast, and malt. Taste is fruity up front with a deeper malt body. Some hints of spices and a rum-raison character. Overall a sweeter taste and lingering, warm finish. Very good. scanovajr (361), Stanford, California, USA Apr 22, 2007 Bottled bought at the Bier Temple, Brussels. Pours redish brown with a nice lacing head. Aroma is fruity and malty. Taste is also fruity and malty. Very nice balance between bitterness and alcohol. Notes of caramel and some licorice beerandrugby (210), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Apr 16, 2007 Delrium Cafe Brussels: really nice, great earthy taste, dark, malty, lovely...just like the girl working the bar that day bdjames29 (272), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Apr 15, 2007 Bottle. Very nice, but I would have expected nothing less. Great beer just to look at - slightly murky brown with red highlights, larger than usual off-white head that lasts and laces, floating filament is apparent when held to the light. Sweet and malty but delicately balanced. A quality brew. Anything from st. Bernardus should be tried.
