DrHomolka (725), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 13, 2007 Bottle. Pours a reddish brown with a small, airy beige head. Strong, complex aroma of brown sugar, sweet fruits, dark malts, a teeny bit of alcohol. Nice. Smooth, rich fruity taste. Sweet and chewy. This brewery rocks. I like the 12 better but this is stunning as well. jarspag (593), Los Angeles, California, USA Apr 12, 2007 Updated: Jun 4, 2007Massive off white head - the aroma is very sweet - smell fruit, plums, raisons, etc. very nice and pleasant. Dark brown color with a lot of movement. Has a rather salty like finish to me, pretty sour..not really as expected. Definately give a big nod to the 12. BelgianBeerGal (1275), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Apr 10, 2007 33cL bottle. Poured a clear, dark brown with an off-white head. Sweet aroma of molassas. Smooth taste and similar to Westy 8 but slightly less complex. It hid its alcohol well too. Recommend trying this beer. hapjydeuce (763), Del Mar, California, USA Apr 6, 2007 Rich, dark brown color and a beautiful tan head that stays. Big aroma! mostly raisin, figs, sweet plantains, other dark fruits and alcohol. malty flavor with lots of spice and a bit of sugar. palate finishes nicely with some yeast and a fruity complexity. great, but the Abt 12 is obviously better! FLnative80 (174), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 5, 2007 Bottle. 12OZ. Beautiful, murky red to brown color. Aromas of raisin, banana, caramel, and malt. Lively carbonation. Medium bodied. Nice balance of sweet and sour flavors. A fine beer. acearl (207), J-Town, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 4, 2007 I drank too cold but let warm for a while as drank this 1pt 9.$ oz bottle, Mahogany hue appeared clear not hazy with white creamy head with great lacing, sweet alcoholic smell, full body, softy carbonation, creamy to syrupy texture, full body, sweet initial flavor, hints of carmel, brown sugar, mild hops, dark fruit nectar tang. BIg like a St. Bernard should be...Quality, wish I had let the bottle age more! Fin (3382), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Apr 2, 2007 Bottle from Tuckers Maltings. Poured a dark brown, really lively probably losing a quarter of a bottle on the work surface as I searched for an appropriate glass. What was left of the beer had a large beige fluffy head and there was a strong but sweet malty and dark fruit aroma mmmhh very nice. Some toffee like flavours along with the dark fruits, bit spicey and some molasses as well. A really very good beer and deservedly so but there are better in this category. guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Apr 1, 2007 Deep, reddish brown appearance with a large tan head and good lacing. Complex aroma full of soft fruits, sweet malts and yeast. Medium-to-full bodied, delightfully carbonated mouthfeel. Taste is well balanced, moderately hopped, with a mix of rich fruit and caramel malts along with earthy, vinous qualities. Pleasant, long lasting, sweet fruit finish.
