330ml brown bottle. Red brown colour, 1 inch of creamy, rocky tan head. Malt, brown sugar and nuts in aroma. Big malt flavour and malt sweetness, subtle caramel and light alcohol. Some yeast and alcohol carry over into the finish, giving it a bit of a pleasant bite, and some dryness. Soft palate, medium carbonation, some stickiness and weight to the body. A nice rich, slow sipping experience overall, even though the bottle foamed like crazy upon opening!

From 33cl bottle, poured into tulip glass

Aroma: caramel, toast, nuts, licorice, raisin, vanilla,

Appearance: brownish/red, big tan frothy head,

Taste: medium sweet, light bitter

Palate: full body, creamy texture, average carbonation

Overall: Very fruity. Almost to the point of what I’d expect from a Quad. Alcohol is well hidden, not warm at all. Lots of raisins, figs, dark fruit type aroma and tastes. Very sweet, lightly bitter. Some dark cherries in taste as well. Very good, slow drinker. Easy to digest, smooth.

Bottle @home. Drunk this many times but i’ve had this bottle about 3 years to age it before rating. Pours brown slightly hazy/murky/cloudy. Nose is malty, fruity, candy, yeasty, figs, prunes, chocolate or should i have just said everything that is good about the world. Taste is at it smells wonderful. While this may or may not be quite as good as the ’12’ this is a serious, serious beer.

33cl bottle from LCBO. Part of a taster pack. 8% alc./vol. Pour a hazy brown colour with one finger of lasting head. Lacing clinging to the side of the glass. Malty aroma, cherries, grapefruit, and plums. Taste matches the aroma with a metallic aftertaste. The balance between the hops and malts is phenomenal. Moderate carbonation. I wish they sold this separately in Toronto.

Une bière solide mais terriblement gouteuse et ronde en bouche. Un must have quasi-parfait pour les apéros automnaux! Fonce mon frère ;)

From elcervecero. In La Trappe chalice. After dinner. Not bad but after taking the Rochefort 8 yesterday this seems too soft in all aspects. However, pretty good for a dubbel
