Aug 11, 2007 Bottled 33cl. It pours a dark brown beer with a rather big light beige head which remains nicely - Nice and fluffy too... This ale leaves a nice lacing. The aroma is dissapointing: Rather metallic with some sour apples, seawater and cane sugar. The taste is cloying with hints of licorice. Lots of cane sugar, plums, butterscotch, apples, plums and butter. Somewhat a bit stylish. The taste reveals some surprises. Not overly complex though. Some well hidden alcohol. Full bodied and malty. A whiff of very enjoyable elements just before the finish. (Plums, Christmas pudding). Then, a wonderfully grassy and buttery finish follows. This beer has a very low bitterness, not all that well balanced, yet decently enjoyable.

Feb 8, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of light fruits (apple, pear), brown sugar, candi sugar. Flavor quite sweet with a big brown sugar push. Was surprised that I didn’t find it particularly complex, but somehow didn’t get too sweet either, though I can’t name any particular balancing factor. Tasty but not particularly mind-blowing.

Feb 22, 2009 Bottle from City Beer in SF. Cloudy dark brown color with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet malt and dark fruits. Flavor is nice buy not incredibly well-balanced in my opinion. Flavor is sweet malt, raisins, fig, and banana with a grainy, bitter hop finish. Nice lively, medium-full palate.

Nov 28, 2004 hazy red brwon, off white head. big aroma of booze, toffee, baked apples/apple pie, vanilla and raisin. flavour is sweet and spicy with fresh baking bread flavours, booze, raisins and mild spicy bitterness. very nice.

Apr 21, 2009 Dark, chestnut brown pour with an off white head. Fruity aroma with some bread, some spice, some alcohol. Bready flavor with nice spice, nice fruit. Really nice balanced flavor. Nice belgian mouthfeel. Overall, a really good dubbel.

Nov 21, 2007 Brown colour with thick and creamy head. Aroma has caramel, dark fruits and malts. Flavour is sweet caramel with some fruits. Alcohol well noticable. Good beer.

Aug 20, 2007 [Sampled in 2003.] When I had thisone some years ago I found it rotten, sour, fat, too sweet, but later I realized it should be that way, then my notes has grown a little. Funny to see how the notes/ratings change by time. Next time maybe >4
