Pours from the bottle with an active and light tan head. Light brown color reminds me of highway patrol men pants. Smells of apples, vanilla, clove and a hint of vinegar. The taste is full at first with lots of bread. Then it fades to apples and some raisins. A nice one to take your time with.

Hugely yeasty, malty and fruity aroma. Plenty of yeast in suspension in the amber-brown body with lasting covering of small-bubbled, tan head. Sweet, malty, caramelly flavour with plums and raisins. and a decent balancing bitterness. Cremy, chewy mouthfeel and medium-full body. A nice way to warm up before heading out for the Grey Cup game in Ottawa. Bottle enjoyed with CapFlu and Lubiere.

Rerate: Gosh is this beer underrated and far better than it’s larger sibling, smooth and malty with a spicy finish...yummy!

Muddled brown hue with a big frothy off-white head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of candi and brown sugar, caramel malt, earthy yeast, sublime caradmom and pipe tobacco. The taste starts sugary sweet with a mighty malt backbone. Follows with a hint of dark fruits, moderate peppery spices, wild grains and hints of whisky. The finish has some dryness and subdued bitters. The feel is sharp and moderately lush with some alcohol presence. A well crafted brew and has some good taste. Beer geek worthy.

Brown with a loose short lived foam head, strong slightly sour malt nose, bit too much fizz, rich roast malt with little bitter malt linger, and a bit too yeasty 2.8...

Tk2 Big thanks to Joris for this aged bottle Deep copper colour ... sweet bready with plums nose ... rich sweet bready malty treacly ... plums raisins ... madiara ... this bottle is in stark contrast to the previous bottle. must try another fresh one to see if its the age that make the difference.

750mL bottle. When I untwisted the cage just enough, the cork exploded out of the bottle.. glancing off my forehead into the abyss.. since I’m in a hotel room, I really couldn’t care less. The brew poured a moderately deep reddish-brown with a tall, rocky cap of creamy beige head. The aroma picked up dried berries and vinous notes with a pinch of dust and some roasty caramel.. only complaint is that the dust got a little in the way at times... really good, though. The flavor was even better.. toasty caramel, molasses, and vinous fruits form a formidable flavor core with brilliant accents of dusty, peppery spices from the heavy yeast presence and some alcohol warmth. A hair greater than medium-bodied, and almost syrupy across the middle.. great contrast of dusty and spicy notes at the edges. This was some really good stuff!

Draft @ The Brick Store Pub. Clear dark garnet color with a small beige head. Dark fruity aroma with out too much sweetness. Notes of raisins along with some earthiness. Sweet fruity flavor, more raisins, with a dry finish. Light bitterness at the end.
