Poured a dark red amber with large brown head that subsides after a while leaving good lacing. Obviously many will want to compare this to the Abt 12, but it is quite a different beast. The first thing that strikes me is the sweetness, not in a bad way, this beer is well balanced, but you certainly notice the candy sugar, and what I would assume is a lengthy boil. Chocolatey toffee notes that cling to the back of the palate. No hops noticeable as one would expect. Overall, this is an exceptional double, that is really quite unique. Certainly worth hunting out, in my opinion, and whilst different from the Abt 12 (surly a good thing), this is none the less exceptional.

It is a strong beer and it tastes like it. But that said it does taste smooth and full of flavour

Dark brown. Cloudy. Yeast bits at bottom. Tastes like a malty Duvel. High carb - slowly gushed from bottle. Dark fruit / pruney. Tasted better as it warmed up. Aroma was amazing when warmer too (obviously...). ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma frutado, notas de caramelo e cravo. Sabor levemente adocicado com toques amargos e algo de banana. Aparência caramelo escuro, sem nenhum resquício no paladar além da beleza dessa garrafa. No geral, sem palavras.

From a bottle. Medium to dark brown with a good beige head. Both aroma and taste combine spices, caramel and bananas. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Vrij warm in het paultje, veel en lang schuim, volle, lekkere smaak. Droppig, niet scherp maar zacht.

Tap at Smithouse in LA. Brown pour, large tan head, lots of lacing, caramel and hoppy aroma, some spices, sweet flavor, again lots of caramel.

Beautiful pour into the glass with a nice color. Brown sugar, date and figs on the nose. Nice head w/excellent lacing on the glass. The lighter mouthfeel contradicts the heavier aromas but in a very pleasant way. Nice finish and an excellent beer.

Hazy brown, coppery color with dirty white head, disappear quickly. Lovely, intense sweet aroma. Dark fruits, dried fruits like plums, apricots, wet bread, pepper, malts. Taste is semi sweet. Flavors of dried fruits, apricots, plums, red wine, roasted malts, raisins. Warming sweet finish. Full body with medium /high carbonation. Consistency liqueur. Very good beer!

Bomber to a snifter. Gift from the Newlyweds. Thanks Jana and Russell! Pours an attractive hazy brown with rapidly receding foamy white head. Notes of raisins, spice, toffee and fresh baked bread... A warm satisfying finish ... Tasty!
