Pours with a creamy, lasting head. Color, like weak coffee. Unbelievable aromas, starting chilled from the fridge with nice fresh hops, and bready malt, warming and evolving to include, vanilla, some chocolate, fruits, mainly banana and cocoanut, also sour mash whiskey. Nice roasted malt flavor, less complex than the aroma, but nice - sweet, fruity, lightly bitter with come coffee and a noticeable alcohol presence. Really, really nice though not as luscious in the mouth as the Westy/Rocheforts these St Bernardus beers have been compared to.

Bottle 33cl. Dark brown, fluffy off white head that fades quickly. Slight red glow. Aroma has malts, sugar and a metallic hint. The taste is relatively flat: mildly bitter with Co2 and again a metallic undertone. Not what you expect of a double type beer.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Big head but instable. Deep reddish amber brown colour. Intense alcoholic flavor, spicy, phenolic, dark fruits, plum, caramel. High carbonation, full mouthfeel, sweet, warming. Long complex aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours cloudy reddish with a huge, mostly lasting off-white head. Good lacing. Grape and plum aromas, delicious fruity notes and some citrus too. Brown sugar. Bold and spicy, fruity flavours with a yeasty boost. A bit sour in a very nice way. Very well balanced alcohol... and I’m usually picky about this. Toasted caramel, some soft blackberry-like flavours but not overwhelming. Good, but I prefer others.

0,33 l Flasche aus einem lokalen REWE-Markt. Kastanienbraun, mäßig Kohlensäure, schöne feinporige Schaumkrone. Riecht süßlich, nach Hefe, Karamell, Teig. Im Geschmack ähnlich, kaum bitter. Fast wie ein Likör

330ml bottle. Clear black tea body, medium beige head with minimal retention and no lacing. Aroma of raisins, yeast, leaves, caramel. Taste of yeast, dough, caramel. A tad metallic and strongly carbonated. Ok.
