33 cl bottle shared two ways. Hazy darkish golden pour with a frothy head that fades quickly. Nose has figs, sugar, grain and some honey. Taste is yeasty with sweet malty notes and grainy.

Color castagna, marrone rossiccio con schiuma beige fine, non troppo ampia ma velatamente persistente. Bellissimo e complesso l’odore. Cereali, biscottini al burro, frutta candita. Poi mele alle castagne e pere, cioccolata , mosto dell’uva. Sul.finire cannella e coriandolo. C’è di tutto ed è duraturo. In bocca sento prugne, poi cioccolata e biscotti al burro. Il finale è alle castagne, ma astringente. Qualche sentore di frutta. Corpo pieno e carbonatazione massiccia, è cremosa in bocca. Non richiede una bevuta continua ma meditativa. Il retrogusto è di biscottini ai cinque cereali glassati con il cioccolato al latte. Per i miei gusti top dei top. Ottima

330mL BB 24.6.18 Murky bronze body with a good sized beige head hanging about. Big whiff of yeast character on the nose; proving bread dough, clove, overly ripe bananas and pears, earthy dark brown candy sugar, toasty nutty malts, sultana, fig, touch of booze. Lively carbonation, creamy rich body. Palate deliver plenty of figgy, dark brown sugar, dried fruitiness, with undertones of earthy spicy hop, vinous fruits & peppery phenolics. Slight booze dries out the finish. Tremendously good, though it must be said it lacks that little bit of extra oomph that the best Belgian/Trappist ales possess.

Pours clear (first glass) to muddy and particulate-laden (second glass) ruby-tinged deep amber with two fingers of loose off-white head diminishing gradually to a thin skim, light lacing (3/5). Nose is dark caramel malt, dark fruit, Belgian yeast, some vanilla. (8/10). Taste is moderate brown sugar sweet, mild bitter, alcohol (8/10). Medium to full body, moderate carbonation, with a smooth, lightly boozy finish (4/5). A decent abbey dubbel that doesn’t get me all that excited. Decent dark flavour and boozy finish, but ultimately falls just a little short. I’m not sure exactly what’s not doing it for me, but I just can’t rank this above the 8/10 "world class" line. (15/20)

Draft. Dark brown with hints of bronze color. Initially thick tan head with substantial lacing. Fruit aroma with spicy notes. Light; some dark fruit followed by toasted--even a little smoky--maltiness. Medium to long finish with plum notes and some bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle poured in a Chimay chalice. A: Pours a dark amber to chestnut cloudy color. Forms a medium, fluffy and beige head. Medium retention and only few lacings left S: Sweet caramel. Strong on Belgium yeasts and grains. Bit of vanilla. Dark fruits (mainly raisins). Alcohol T: Sweet upfront. Strong on candy sugar. Caramel malts, dark fruits (plums and raisins), brown bread, roasted malts. Metallic. The classic Belgium yeasts. Bitter-sweet belgian style. Mild earthy bitter end M: Light to medium body. Bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy dark brown. Some off-white head. Quite sweet. Surprisingly light body. Some warmth. Soft carbonation. Candy, plum, brown sugar, rum flavour. Could use some more body and carbonation in my opinion.
