2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), moderately yeasty (basement/cement), with notes of pepper, banana, apple, cotton candy, and alcohol.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, fizzy/lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
I have never liked the St. Bernardus yeast, being very much like damp basement/cement, and this is chock full ’o that. Add in the cotton candy and apple notes, and this just isn’t enticing at all to my nose...pepper and toasty malt are pretty much the only good points. Sweet and more boozy than the 6% would suggest. Not a fan, and I’m also confused why this is considered a witbier since it doesn’t seem to have any characteristics of that style (other than being vaguely Belgian-styled). *shrug*

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
"Different hips than the Blanche, but very much still a wit beer. Orange and. Oriander present as a soft citrus aroma and flavor. Nice hopping for the style and a light refreshing palate."

Frisk let sommerale.
