NomDeBeer (397), Maryland, USA May 23, 2009 Rating #300. Pours a hazy shade of ice-tea with a big, willowy white head. Aroma of spicy Belgian yeast, rasins, and bread. Taste is . . . hard to pinpoint. It’s sweet and spicy, certainly not bad, but kind of bland really. Has a smooth, slightly bitter finish. Mouthfeel is soft with moderate carbonation. Alcohol is very well-hidden. Good beer, it’s very drinkable, but the taste is too uneventful for me to say that it’s really enjoyable. Poobah (101), New Orleans, Louisiana, USA May 16, 2009 Light golden color. Cloudy with a tinge of grapefruit and a significant head that lasts throughout. The nose is similar to banana bread with some yeastiness and spice apparent. Very smooth entry and transition to a finish that is lemony, with noticeable ripe banana. Some spiciness present along with very little evidence of the high alcohol level. Easy to drink. WVHouseofBeer (329), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA May 15, 2009 Pop the cap and the pour is a dark, complex golden hue that brings a nearly perfect fluffy white head. Carbonation is precise which allows the flavors of a signature yeast, fruits, and various spices. This is just such a good, good beer. A refreshing blend of fruits and yeast that adds up to my favorite Tripel. Mmmm - LC bblack99 (194), Kansas City, Missouri, USA May 12, 2009 Pours a slightly cloudy orange-tan, like weak iced tea. Great stable head, initially about a finger, that retains very nicely and coats the palate.
Aroma of yeast, nutmeg, and citrus. Initial spicy punch of flavor, followed by a shot of pepper, and finishing with flowery citrus. Parket (214), Bruges, Belgium May 7, 2009 bottle, unclear orange/yellow colour, absolutely very nice white head! Smells yeasty, alcohol, fruity. taste: quite fruity, subtile sweet, alcohol. I also taste very nice melons in the aftertaste. Just another great product from st Bernard! I don’t know what the best tripel is in the world, but I’m sure this would be a good candidate RHeastings (374), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 6, 2009 Enjoyed via 11.2 oz bottle in tulip glass. Pours a medium yellow to light golden color. Nice long-lasting white head. Nose of subtle dark fruits and some spices. Palate is slightly malty and slightly fruity; a great balance that is difficult to pin down and difficult to find in all but the finest tripels, especially state-side. Yeast-derived notes remind me a lot of the yeast from Westmalle or Rochefort. A splendid medium-dry finish ends the drinking experience. Easily up there with the best tripels I’ve had. gabbama (115), Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, USA May 4, 2009 Cloudy golden color with a large off-white head. Nice aroma of sweet oranges and some spice. Flavor follows the aroma with some wheat and yeast. Alcohol comes through on the finish. Overall, a pretty good tripel. MoDog (906), Griffith, Indiana, USA May 2, 2009 11.2oz bottle (Best before 22 04 11) and served in a tulip. This tripel poured a hazy golden orange with a thick head of slowly fading off-white foam. Decent lacing. The aroma included orange peel, light candi sugar, lemon, honey, and some spicy yeast esters. The flavor had orange and lemons, light graham cracker, and also some warming alcohol. Somewhat bland. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied and had moderate carbonation. Pretty average as far as tripels go. Just okay.
