A- Pours a slightly cloudy tangerine hue with a large eggshell head that slowly fades to tons of lacing.
S- Smell is sweet and deeply reminescent of Belgian yeast. Spicy and funky with light apricot undertones.
T- Taste is a array of blended spices, earthy belgian funk with a dry, tangy finish that leaves you constantly going for another sip.
M- Somewhat light with a good amount of carbonation that dances on the tongue and tickles the throat as it goes down.
D- This is highly drinkable and even though i’m not a huge Belgian fan this tripel really does it for me. It takes a Belgian yeasty taste that turns me off to quite a few other beers and makes it so enticing its hard to put down. doppelmeup (51), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Apr 25, 2008 Poured a bottle into a tulip glass.
Inch tall head that settled into about a 1/4 inch covering that lasted throughout. Nice lacing. Very nice looking glass of beer. Golden, honey colored. Very tiny, compact carbonation.
Smelled of yeast, fruits, alcohol. Very well balanced. No particular aroma stood out, but all worked together.
Delicious, well balanced. Some fruit, some yeast, some hops, some malt, all working together. A very balanced beer on a par with Westmalle Tripel.
I noticed a lot of carbonation that made my tongue tingle a bit, otherwise I’d give it a 5 on mouthfeel. Warmed the palate after it went down. Slight bitter and alcoholic aftertaste that warmed and then left the palate quickly.
Very drinkable, but tasted strong with the alcohol not as well hidden as the Westmalle. But an excellent, delicious beer. And my wife says I look like the monk on the label! grant (792), Long Beach, CA/Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Apr 23, 2008 Light leather-brown, average head. Pleasant doughy, light banana, nutty (almond) and leather aroma. Lightly malty, honey flavor with light tartness. Enjoyit (1695), Vadum, Denmark Apr 19, 2008 Pale golden of color with a nice white head. An aroma of sweets, spice, aplles and fruit. A flavor of honey, spice, sweets and a oily texture. EHopper (274), Minnesota, USA Apr 18, 2008 Golden honey color, fairly cloudy with a white, white head and sediment suspension. Sour, spicy citrus aroma like one of those christmas russian teas, but much fainter. Very nice flavor, bright citrus, but smooth feel. Slightly metallic aftertaste. Chapel (327), Levittown, New York, USA Apr 16, 2008 Had this a few weeks ago, been sitting on my ’haves’ list all this time. Pours hazy gold with a medium head. Aroma is citrus. Flavor is coriander spice with some fruit and citrus. There are also some slightly yeasty notes and a nice spicy finish. dsm (109), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Apr 13, 2008 Pours a nice hazy golden color, thick head which mostly dissipates fairly quickly. A little spicy, sour, and fruity. A little tart for my taste but very good. petzdrgonizbk (24), Tennessee, USA Apr 12, 2008 Poured a cloudy amber, with the aroma of fruits and bread. The flavor was fruity, mostly citrus. A very nice beer!
