Pipper (225), Ohio, USA Sep 16, 2009 Poured into glass. Hazy orange/yellow pour with fluffy off-white head with some decent. A little spicy with some citrus notes and a bit of maltiness. Rune (2744), Tromsø, Norway Sep 16, 2009 330ml bottle from Utobeer, bb.27.01.12.Cloudy, golden body with a greyish, soapy head, slowly diminishing. Inviting aroma of sweet spices, lemony hops and a note of yeast. Comprehensive taste with spices and subdued banana combined with minty sweetness and nutty malts followed by yeast and warming alcohol. Full bodied, but still very soft and easy to drink. A tasty tripel, indeed (Earls Court, hotel room 07.08.2009). bconger (74), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Sep 15, 2009 Bottle. Hazy golden pour with a thick, foamy white head. Light pear, yeast, and alcohol aromas. Balanced malts, moderate sweetness, and mild bitterness with light toffee and fruit. Very nice, creamy mouthfeel. DeadGirl (192), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA Sep 13, 2009 Updated: Oct 18, 2009Pour from the 25oz. bottle into a pint glass: More like a Heffe than a Tripel here- but I’m not complaining. Balanced tastes of banana, sweet malts, coriander, and fruity yeasts. For an 8% abv Tripel the alc-y stays hidden. A good buy. Drinkability: Yes. Rebuy: Sure. #120 on 13092009, DG. BVery (445), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA Sep 11, 2009 TAP: hazy yellow pour, nearly no head. Grape and wheat on the nose, some malt on taste, smooth, boozy, no hop, not too sweet and tasted maybe flat? I kind of think I got a bad batch of this, because it didn’t strike me as overly great. Cole (264), , Alberta, Canada Sep 11, 2009 Hazy yellowThin head. Malty very alcoholic. Light fresh well rounded not bad at all. BeerChaser0078 (283), Melbourne, Australia Sep 10, 2009 Bottle. Pours hazy golden orange with a big fluffy white head and lots of chunky sediment. Nose is quite spicy with yeast really standing out and a hint of mandarine in the background. Flavour is fairly grainy with cookie dough, orange peel and mixed spice coming through. Fairly light mouthfeel which becomes quite dry at the end. Another very nice beer from St. Bernardus. Wombata (74), Kobe, Japan Sep 8, 2009 Updated: Sep 10, 2009Appearance: Yellow straw with brown tint, Long-lived, White head, vigorous carbonation.
Aroma: Initially earthy (which fades some), pleasantly vegetal, floral, and spice (nutmeg?), sweet caramel malt and candy sugar gains in strength.
Flavors: Caramel, candy sugar, long floral and toasty caramel finish.
Comment: More complex than the Watou.
