ba2008 (25), USA Jan 2, 2008 12 oz bottle poured hazy orange little white head that turns to some lace. Belgium yeast, fruit and malt aroma, clean mouth feel some light carbonation. The taste on this one is lightly sweet malty fruity start slightly hoppy bitter finish. Defreni (993), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 1, 2008 Flaske. Nice white frothy head which collapses very quickly. Cloudy. Aroma of yeast clearly present. Plenty of alcohol in the flavor with a touch of residual sweetness in the end. Warming sensation is not really there compared to the 6 and 8 beers. Bitterness in the aftertaste. Frankly a bit more bitter than I would like in a Belgian beer. Just not digging this beer like the 8. RSRIZZO (1332), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Dec 30, 2007 Aroma has an almost wine like quality with a nice fruity yeast scent. Color is a deep gold with a slight haze and very good carbonation that produces a nice tight white head. Taste is light and fruity. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down smooth with a crisp feel. Finish comes in sweet with a fruity yeast flavor that has a citrus banana taste in it and just a hint of coriander, then it turns a little bitter and ends with a sour nip at the end. After taste is dry with the sour fading out to a mild bitterness. It has that wonderful Belgian yeast flavor that most brews from Belgium have but this one is different. Although it has the fruity flavor it seems to have a little more of the characteristics of a White then others I have had and this gives it an interesting sour note not found in most Tripels. Overall I think its an amazing brew, its not as good as there Abt 12, but still a very good Belgian brew. CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Dec 30, 2007 Pours out looking like lemon juice, light golden and hazy forming a good size white foamy head. Aroma of cloves, hop flowers, citrus, yeast and vanilla. Flavour is of vanilla malts and yeast, somewhat biscuity. Taste of flowers comes to mind.....would love to visit this brewery....this is not my fave style, however these Belgium friends can make awesome beer! Would love to try on cask/tap. drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 30, 2007 sampled blind at "Better Know a Style: Abbey Tripel". pours clear golden w/ white head. nose of vanilla, yeasty, mild fruit. flavor is grainy, yeasty, mild citrus and plum fruit. fizzy carbonation. sharp going doing. alcohol warmth. surprised this did so poorly. Sticks73 (28), Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 30, 2007 Bottle. Poured to a dark cloudy cider color with a fluffy head. Light to sryupy body. Sweet cider aroma with light floral hints. Medium to full body flavor. Sharp crisp beginning full of strong flavors (malty, fruits, flower). Long middle with sharp flavors leading to a quick end. Slight alcohol flavor in aftertaste. Lively and punchy sharp tastes, clean & crisp. TrefwoordPunk (549), Leiden, Netherlands Dec 30, 2007 Bottle 33 cl. Pours a cloudy yallow with a medium head and a thin sour and spicey smell.
