Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Dec 27, 2007 Pours a cloudy orange-gold with a frothy , off-white head that diminishes to a thin cap that laces fairly well. Bright, fruity and lightly spicy yeast notes are on the nose with lesser notes of faint bubble gum and light wheat in the background. Medium-bodied and soft with a dry and somewhat tart finish. Fruity yeast, white pepper, citrus and faint bubble gum come out, in the flavor, and conclude with a bone-dry finish. A nice dry tripel, this is another fine offering from St. Bernardus. rayOfBeer (316), El Cerrito, California, USA Dec 27, 2007 Had this one on tap. It poured a orangy-blond with a light foam head with big bubbles that faded immediately. There was not much aroma except for a mild dough yeast smell. The flavor seemed a bit short, tasting of soft fruit and yeast. There was a bit of a filmy puckering effect which coated the front teeth and gums. The high alcohol was barely noticeable accept for the mouth warming feel it gave. Overall, a good Belgian triple, just not my top choice. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 27, 2007 [721-20070929] 330mL (By Jul-07). Grape-y champagne aroma is not pronounced. Clear, orange brown body with a big long-lasting creamy white head. Belgian yeast dough and fruit flavour. Medium body. Interesting but does not seem like a great example of itself today. Zinister (1198), Houston, Texas, USA Dec 27, 2007 Hazy straw color with good solid head. Belgian nose with floral, apples and cloves. Taste is apples, lemons, bread dough, and bananas. Very nice sweet tripel. BMan1113VR (2752), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Dec 24, 2007 One of my favorite St. Bernardus brews so far. I rate it up there with there Abt 12. Pours a hazy golden amber with an average size off-white head with excellent lacing (as all St. Bernardus brews seem to have). Another trademark of the monastery are the complex aroma’s of there brews. This one has pine, lemon, chocolate, dough, apple, cinnamon, brown sugar, and banana. Very sweet smelling. Taste is clean with sweet start and mild bitter finish. Soft carbonation and an alcoholic finish make this beer a favorite in my book Erdinger2003 (127), Ames, Iowa, USA Dec 23, 2007 Pours out great and leaves some head with a strong lacing. The smell is very flowrey and really great. Has a sweet flowery nose to it, like a great beligan tripel. Taste is malty and sweet with buttery flavors. It has apple fruit tones. Mouthfeel is a little off, but very nice. I don’t like this as much as other Belgians, but it does fine for itself. hombrepalo (726), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 17, 2007 A really nice grainy-sweet aroma. Not sure if the monk is blessing me or showing me the size of his endowment. Oaty, lots of yeast, a golden cake quality to it. Long moderate bitter finish. Good CO2. Pretty good stuff. corby112 (671), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 16, 2007 Updated: Jan 3, 2008Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a foamy white head. Aroma of white fruits such as apple, grape, and pear. Also, strong alcohol and spice presence. Pretty carbonated at first but becomes intense as it warms. Nice balance of fruitines, maltiness, alcohol, and slight hops. Very crisp enjoyable tripel.
