evergreen0199 (259), London, Greater London, England Aug 15, 2009 On tap at the White Horse, London. A hazy yellow beer with a big fluffy white head. Fruity Belgian aroma. Tastes fruity, spicy, sweet, lemon. Had this many times in bottled form but this draught version was smooth and magnificent. A wonderful Belgian Tripel. wilderthanyou (407), Guelph, Ontario, Canada Aug 11, 2009 Pours a cloudy dark yellow with a fluffy, long lasting , white head. The aroma is mainly yeasty, with some lighter citrus notes, mainly lemon. The flavour is decent, yeast, some malt caramel, light notes of fruit, a touch of citrus, alcohol in the finish. Good, but nothing great. A well rounded, enjoyable brew. hopheadfett (50), Oak Ridge, New Jersey, USA Aug 10, 2009 Pours a cloudy pale yellow/orange, big fluffy head, incredible lacing. Nose of yeast, some citrus, not much else. Taste of yeast, malt, some fruit, a nice hint of alcohol in the finish, a tad warming. Medium bodied, creamy texture, and lively carbonation with a rather dry finish. Wonderfully balanced, not the most exciting tripel I’ve had, but absolutely enjoyable. MereLikesBeer (153), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA Aug 9, 2009 I shared a bottle of this with BeerBaron617 this evening. It sort of got all foamy and explosive when we opened the bottle, but there wasn’t too much lost in the situation. It poured a dark yellow with lots of floaters. It had a nice fluffy white head. Aroma is sort of typical for a Belgian, but not too heavy on the clove or banana. It has a very nice flavor, sweet, but as the description says it has a bit of sour in it that compliments the flavor quite nicely. I really do enjoy this. it leaves a nice warm feeling in my belly :) BeerBaron617 (306), Novi, Michigan, USA Aug 9, 2009 Shared an 11.2 oz bottle with MereLikesBeer. Honestly, nothing more than an average tripel. Classic Belgian notes, with nothing out of place. Tasty stuff, but I expected a little more from this brewer on the first impression. Note- It did fizzy up a bit on the uncapping, which may have added to the overall experience. Either way, not too bad. Cheers! MrBeerFanatic (344), jamestown, New York, USA Aug 8, 2009 Pours a deep murky medium dark amber with a frothy white head. Aroma is sweet of spices, some banana, bread, citrus, and yeast. Flavor is some what thick with this bread like feel and taste with some banana, clove/ spices, yeast, citrus, caramel and fruit. The balance of flavors is well done with a sweet and bitter finish to end. Very good tripel, even though i payed 10 dollars for a 1pt 9.4 fl oz bottle and it exploded when I opened it.... elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA Aug 3, 2009 St. Bernardus Tripel 8/2/09 (on tap at Blue Palms, 5oz pour. Color is solid gold, with an ample white head. Aroma has some lemony zip, with sugar and an estery touch. Quite nice. Palate is medium, not particularly light, with prickly carbonation. Flavor is far less intriguing than the nose: there is a strong sugary sweet element blended with banana and malt flavors. Grain and yeast are also quite noticeable. Good offering, but I prefer Bernardus’ other stuff. JanVittrup (138), København V, Denmark Jul 31, 2009 Straw / slightly amber. Chunks in the drink. An error? Fine-medium bubble head, retained.
Not much aroma. Fruity, but not so complex as the Westmalle Triple (from the same tasting).
Dry walnut like taste. Interesting, but not good.. Much better concealing the alcohol than the Westmalle Triple from the same tasting. Then again the Westmalle was 9.5% ABV.
Nothing special. Chunks in beer to me is gross, hence the low rating.
Purchased in SuperBrugsen.
