alaskanwarren (269), Edgewater, Colorado, USA Aug 15, 2007 Pours light golden with a massive white head. Lots of lovely tiny bubbles. Really yeasty aroma at first and not as floral as I would expect. Further sniffing reveals a bit more of that floral character you’d expect from belgian tripel yeast. Lots of good esters. Touch of grain. First flavors are nice and sweet. Lots of banana. Some clove and pepper. Finish is yeasty with some of that pepper. Body is on the full side of medium. What a perfect example of what a tripel should be.
carruthm (306), USA Jul 13, 2008 dark yellow/orange with an aggressive white head. good mix of spices and yeast in the nose and a taste to match, clean and good. chokmah33 (82), Bremerton, Washington, USA Jul 9, 2008 Light lemon aroma, fresh pear, apple, sour yeast, wheat. Perfumey floral sweetness.
Wheats up front, earthy sourness builds thru mid, along with some yeast. Light sweet lemon peel and a hint of spice. The belgian funk and alchohol are subdued, very tasty.
Killer silky texture on the rough + dry palate.
Such a good Trip, very restrained and well balanced. texasbartender (124), Sugarland, Texas, USA Jul 7, 2008 The beer pours a hazy yellow orange with a thick white head. The nose is a rich mix of spice yeast citrus and malts. The taste is slightly less then what the nose lead me to believe but it is still very good; a clean mix of yeast and citrus with light notes of coriander and peppercorn. The finish is slightly sour but very nice. DutchCrow (15), Alkmaar, Netherlands Jul 5, 2008 Bottle at de Boom in Alkmaar. Very decent tripel. Nice golden color, decent head. Aroma is hard to describe. Tastes like citrus, not much like banana, dry aftertaste. Also very balanced, the alcoholic taste is hidden perfectly. urraca (36), New Jersey, USA Jul 4, 2008 Great, great Tripel. I actually think I prefer this over the St. Bernardus quad, it’s so drinkable and smooth. I get a hint of sugar and fruit as the predominate aroma. Pours an astonishing gold color which is fairly opaque, with a large standing head. Love the malt/yeast dominance in the taste with hints of citrus and a pleasant spice, which make it tremendously smooth and balanced.
