This beer, with high fermentation, has a pale amber colour and a flowery, fruity taste with a harmonious balance between sweet and sour (8% alcohol content). This beer has a thick and vivid froth and strikes by its balanced taste with a delicate bitterness.

Pours w/ much head, gets chucky and lasts. Golden, yeasty ale. It is just really too strong for me, theres nothing to hide the alcohol here. Great yeast strain, poor malt choice. bottle, proper glass

Een volle, ronde smaak, die zich onderscheidt van de meeste tripels. Hierdoor heeft het een eigen karakter.

Bottle from Cotteridge wines. Golden beer with medium head and patchy lacing. Aroma of yeast, citrus and bready malts. Taste is citrus, bready, spice, cloves, a little banana and yeast. Fizzy on the tongue. Excellent beer, one I have I wanted to try for a few years now.

Bottle from Wallington Beer Fest 2014. It pours lightly hazy gold with a thick white heads. The nose is soft, doughy, toasty grain, cereal, boiled sweets and mild spice. The taste is bitter, toasty, cereal, bread, spice, warming alcohol, grain, stone fruits and boiled sweets with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Thankfully not too sweet. Balance works quite nicely. Top echelon tripel.

The tripel in this series, if I am not mistaken this was the first beer with which they deviated from the Westvleteren staple, which they are historically allied with, as we all know. Medium thick, off-white, irregular head, opening after a while; colour a deep ochre blonde, slightly hazy at first, cloudy with deposit. Estery and malty aroma with hints of icing sugar, mango, brown bread, pepper, apricot jelly, cloves, bananas, apple sauce, calvados, raw potatoes, cinnamon, coriander, marzipan, freshly grated ginger, sweet white grapes, butterscotch, earth, dough. Taste begins with a pleasant fruitiness, citrus freshness but in a subtle way, quite strong and minerally carbonation, smooth but full, mellow mouthfeel, sweetish bready malts, yeasty, a bit starch-like with a dry, medium long finish bearing herbal and somewhat peppery hop bitterness along with the lasting yeastiness and booze, in the form of warming, agreeable, gin-like alcohol. Now here’s a good tripel: sweeter, more gentle and more bready than ’mother’ Westmalle, but on a par with this great archetype of the style, with a very good balance between sweet and dry. That being said, I don’t expect anything less from this trappist-related brewery. One of the top ten tripels from Belgium for me.

33 cl bottle at home. Aroma is yeasty, bready and slight resin. Pours a nice golden colour with some haze (my bad pouring) and a large white head. Taste is sweet with some balancing bitterness. Rich mouthfeel and a dry bitter finish. Overall, very good. A great brewery and a terrific example of a tripel.

33cl bottle at home. Pale orange with a medium white soapy head with medium retention. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation. Well balanced bitter and sweet tones. Citrus, hay, grain, herbs, some floral tones and bread. A nice tripel.
