Pour was a cloudy copper and gold with a thick pillowy white head. Left good lacing. The aroma was pepper and spice initially but lightened up as the beer opened up. Fruit and yeast took over as the main fragrances about half way through the bottle. The flavor was a nice blend of honey, banana and mild spicyness. Incredible mouthfeel. Super velvety with a succinct finish. My experience with Tripels is somewhat limited, but I thought this one was much better than Chimay white.

Aug 29, 2008 Bottle, Beer Ritz Leeds. Poured darkish slightly hazy gold with a decent white head Aroma was hay, yeast, citrus. Flavour had a sweetish beginning with spice, fruits and a hint of malt. Dryish finish. Solid.

Aug 28, 2008 Nice amber-yellow with a moderate head. Aroma of sugar, big yeast, and bananas. Blast of bubble gum, bananas and bread in the mouth. A delightful fruity tripel with only minor spice and citrus notes. Big, thick gummy mouth feel. Wet full bodied ale that’s rather refreshing and leaning to overripe fruit and vanilla.
A refreshing tripel.

Aug 28, 2008 Bottle (in NZ), a lively pour, a hazy amber with a large white pillow head. A spicy aroma, ginger and cloves, and sweet yeast. A spicy yeast flavour, quite a bitterness to the palate. I found it a bit uninspiring - but that is probably the result of the trip.

Aug 24, 2008 Poured a slightly cloudy golden orange with a thick white head. Sweet aroma of yeast, citrus and other fruity notes I couldn’t quite finger specifically (peaches maybe?). Flavour was quite spicy with yeast and fruit. Spicy finish. I was happy to try this one.

Appearance: Pours a clear, bright, orangey-gold body topped proudly with an inch of white foam.
Smell: Sweetish, malty nose with hints of spicy hops, fruit-flavored bubblegum, booze, and more candy.
Taste: Sweet pale maltiness with a tiny bit of breadiness to it. Large dose of toffee candy. Drop of lemon extract, a drop of vanilla extract. Spicy, flowery hops with a medium-low bitterness. Splash of bubblegum liqueur with its accompanying alcohol heat. Tiniest bit of sourness rides into the otherwise sweetish finish. After a few sips, a growing taste of black pepper develops.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Sticky mouthfeel. Medium-high, slightly prickly carbonation.
Drinkability: Another very good tripel from the St. Bernard Brewery-err, I mean Brouwerij. Though, for me, when pit side-by-side with the Watou Tripel, I do defer to the Watou.
