Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Dec 7, 2005 Bottle: Aroma is a mixture or raspberry, apple, and yeast. Pours a dull hazy orangish-yellow with a small white head that fades to a soapy looking ring around the outside edges of the glass. Flavor is very fruity and yeasty. Apple is much stronger than the raspberry. Moderate yeastiness and sugary sweetness in the background. Finishes with the slightest hint of flowery bitterness. A simple and very average Biere de Garde. iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA Dec 2, 2005 12oz. bottle. Pours hazy straw color with big frothy head. Smells sour, earthy, stale and a little yeasty. Taste is sour fruit with some bready notes. I didn’t like this one, (left the rest of the four back in my friend’s fridge), but I think I gave it a few pity points. I switched to the Bud Light my friends were drinking instead of trying any more of this one. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Dec 2, 2005 75cl bottle. Pale gold with thick fluffy white head. Citric herby aroma some creamyness, soft in mouth, bit of lemon on the end. RAYBOY01 (1813), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 1, 2005 Spritzy carbonation, very lively on the tongue. Sweet citrusy flavor...orange and lemons. Very prominent yeastiness. All in all, a pretty interesting Belgian Blond. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Oct 5, 2005 Musty honey and slightly sharp fieldberries in the doughy, herbal aroma. Slightly hazy, golden body is topped by a pillowy white head that recedes rapidly to partial cover and ring with some lacing. Musty, floral, honey-like, fruity, berry flavour with herbal notes and fair finishing bitterness. Medium body with large bubbled though lively effervesence. Tulip glass. Allowed to warm from fridge temperature. Bottle (Half Time, Mar-05). BuckNaked (1204), Tempe, Arizona, USA Oct 1, 2005 750ml bottle: Pours to a dark straw/pale amber color, body is totally clear to reveal small bubbles continually rising to the surface. The huge, thick & fluffy, white head sticks atop the beer slowly fading throughout the beer to a thick ring with excellent lacing the entire length of the glass. Very cold the beer shows some spices and yeast. Once it warms to the proper temperature honey, wheat, light malt, dough, light herbs and grass come through. Unfortunately there is this scent in there that I can only describe as chlorine. The taste is light honey, followed by a nice grain/dough pale malt, and a hint of spicy/grassy hops towards the finish. Light-medium bodied, lively carbonation, crisp but not very dry. There’s a mild corn or vegitable flavor that lingers. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Sep 4, 2005 Updated: Sep 6, 2005Date on the 750mL bottle says 03/2004. Beer pours a deep golden-honey color, like a rich premium lager, you might say. Head is not terribly large, but creates a ton of lacing and is well-retained. A light cream color to it. Medium-sized bubbles rise, and the beer is very clear. Aroma of pencil shavings, light grass and honey dough/malted wheat. A bit of rustiness, iron or copper notes. Farmy, but not terribly strong or pervasive. Flavor is lightly acidic and a touch sour, from the yeastiness. Sweet honey notes and pale grains. Definite crayons/waxiness and not terribly complex. Lightly grassy hops on the end, adding some light bitterness. Kind of celery thing going on. Mouthfeel is lightly effervescent. Moderate carbonation, a bit watery at times. Light grassy bitterness lingers on, while there is some light coating of sweet honey malts. Like a really good Premium lager. . . BBB63 (4199), La Porte, Indiana, USA Aug 11, 2005 Bottle sampled in my NB worthy glass:
Clear golden hue with a small lasting fizzy head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of banana, lemon pie, grassy and herbal hops, pepper and light clove, and some musty yeast ester. The taste starts a bit fruit and citric with a bready and wheaty background. Some undertone of pepper and orange zest. The feel is refreshing and easy going. This is a good brew and it hit the spot.
