Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Sebourg beer, this was rebaptized Saint Druon de Sebourg in 2000.
Malted barley and 3 varieties of hops grown in Alsace form the basis of this recipe, which, unlike Duyck’s other beers, also contains wheat from the Beauce region of France, milled in the traditional way by Sebourg’s miller. And to give it an even more distinctive flavour, the Duyck’s use a specific strain of yeast exclusive to the beer.
St. Druon de Sebourg is the French version of a blonde abbey ale, similar in style to those found across the nearby border in Belgium. It is spicy and effervescent, and much hoppier than typical bière de garde.

Bottle at Mondial 2008
Appearance: Light amber with mid fizzy top.
Nose Plain light sweet front with straight malt notes. 6-.
Flavor/Palate : Sweet honey like sugars with more of generic taste. To one dimensional and sweet for style.

Pours a golden amber with a frothy white head that leaves some light lacing. Smells a bit skunky, and my wife thought it smelled like "dirty feet". Not too great. Taste only slightly better, a bit of an apple and malt flavor. Not so good.

Garrafa, em maio 2008. Coloração âmbar, com um creme branco não consistente, nem persistente. Presença de fermento e lúpulo, com leve amargor. Boa drinkability.

Nice opaque orange with white foam, citric aroma with hints of malt, nuts, earth and oat. Strong malt flavor, along with oat, spice and some fruitness. Lasting bitter aftertaste, with floral and spicy touches. Dense body. Some unbalance going on to the bitter side.

Pours clear straw color with a medium white head that lasted well in my glass. Nose reminded me of picking peaches at Porter - kind of musty sweetness, very pleasant. Grass, straw, light bready malts, and more fruitiness in the flavor. Clean finish. Good beer.

750 ml bottle. Slightly hazy orange-kissed golden colour. Very thick sticky head. Aroma is quite earthy with a dank mustiness. Lots of basementy funky character. As it warms more sweet fruity character comes to the fore. Apricot, pear and apple along with a nice honey/caramel sweetness. Not really spicy per se, but the blend of fruit, fruit skins, and sweetness is quite compelling. A light herbal/grassy bitterness along with a white peppery bite. A bit of lemon and orange tartness as it starts to warm up. I quite like it.

750 ml. Clear golden with a medium-sized head that tries to last. Earthy-honey, caramel, and hay with some spice. Flavor is similar, with some cinnamon, tart apples, slight bubblegum, citrus, and bitterish green herbs as well. Near medium body is smooth and dry.
