COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Sebourg beer, this was rebaptized Saint Druon de Sebourg in 2000.
Malted barley and 3 varieties of hops grown in Alsace form the basis of this recipe, which, unlike Duyck’s other beers, also contains wheat from the Beauce region of France, milled in the traditional way by Sebourg’s miller. And to give it an even more distinctive flavour, the Duyck’s use a specific strain of yeast exclusive to the beer.
St. Druon de Sebourg is the French version of a blonde abbey ale, similar in style to those found across the nearby border in Belgium. It is spicy and effervescent, and much hoppier than typical bière de garde.

Pours a cloudy yellow color with a decent white head. Aroma of yeast and spice. Slight banana and spice flavor. Dissapointingly flat and quick to finish. Wheat and bread flavors come out as well.

Bottle. Nice golden color with a thin white head and goes fast. The aroma is fruity and spicy. Flavor is sweet and spicy, good.... Mouthfeel is nice like a balanced fruity, bitterness and sweetness.

Português: Cerveja dourada com uma espuma que some rápido. O aroma é frutado e picante, sabor é o mesmo e um pouco doce. Sensação na boca é equilibrada entre o doce, urtado e o amargo!

12 oz bottle, via puzzl. Pours a perfectly clear straw yellow body under a fluffy one inch white head with decent retention. One fine bead of carbonation. What’s with filtering a BdG? The nose is light whispy straw with some light perfumy notes and a light spiciness. The flavor is way too sweet with a cheap adjunct note. Some grassy wheat and a touch of hops. Mouthfeel is light bodied and fairly watery with moderate fizzy carbonation. Not sure why this is considered a BdG versus a Golden Ale, but it clearly doesn’t come close to the classics.

Bottle, 75cl corked. (6%) Pours a clear, golden-orange body, with a big, fluffy, white head, leaving nice lacings. The aroma is mostly grainy, but it s also fruity and slightly spicy, but quite subdued. The mouthfeel is medium to full, with a good deal of co2, and sweetish. Far from overly sweet though. It has a quite fruity flavor, with grains and bitterness finding it’s way after a second or two, and some notes of cellar in the background. It finishes rather dry, with a nice fruity bitterness. A very drinkable beer, which maybe could have gotten a higher score, partly due to that, then again, maybe I was just thirsty. Anyway, I liked the bitterness in it. (071022)

LIttle thin in appearance, but smells nice. Very nice, not too sweet but a good odd flavor that isn’t funky. Hard to define other than I really like this.

Pours a hazed straw gold. Virtually no head off a careful pour. Nose is slightly thick with a muted malt. Flavor is alive with character. Vibrant sugary flavor with a yeasty influence. Stays pretty smooth and consistent. Feel is nice and smooth off the liquid and has a decent amount of bubble on the tongue. Very drinkable, I say. Whereas it has no real stand out qualities, it is still easy to drink and is pretty good. I don’t think I would ever go back to it, but I can’t think of any reasons for you not to try it.

Bottle. Aroma is malt, yeast, dried fruit. Gold with white head and good lace. Decent yeast earth, dried fruit malt flavors. Medium/light bodied and soft. Mild but not that bad.

UPDATED: DEC 20, 2008 [draft at The Old Toad - Rochester, NY] Hazy amber color with a puffy white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, and yeasty. Good amount of malts. Flavor is very yeasty and spicy, almost tastes like a Belgian Ale. Fruits and citrus throughout the middle with a spicy and yeasty finish. Very smooth.
