3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled, 0.33l. Clear amber color with small quickly dissipating tan-like head and soft visible carbonation. Aroma of grassy hops, caramel malt, fresh and dry fruits. Taste starts rich malty with moderate sweetness. Following is fresh with taste of hay, mouthfeel is quite spicy, while aftertaste is moderate bitter, although well hiden behind rich and spicy maltiness. Medium to full body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Bottle minimalism vs. rich and pleasant taste...

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Maker: St. Erhard (brewed at Brauerei Rittmayer Hallerndorf), Bamberg, Germany ***
Beer: St. Erhard Kellerbier (bottled, 330ml) ***
Style: Kellerbier/Zwicklbier ***
ALC.VOL.: 5.0% ***
"St. ERHARD® is the flagship beer brand representing true beer excellence from the home of the beer. As a genuine Franconian "Kellerbier" St. ERHARD® is brewed and bottled in Bavaria according to the "Reinheitsgebot". We are driven by the passion to serve the highest level of sophistication in brewing to a global audience." [brewery notes] ***
Colour: Clear deep amber, very small off-white head. ***
Nose: Bready malts, caramel, a whiff of lemon. ***
Texture: Medium body, still quite watery, active carbonation. ***
Taste: Caramel malt (fudge) at the start, slightly sweetish. Some hay, mild citrus notes. Mix is very much the same towards the middle. More hoppy, bitter finish with citrus that leads to a malty, soft, but still modestly bitter lasting aftertaste. ***
Impressions: Quite different from the usual "Zwicklbier" style brews, with a nice lemony note that complements the mildly sweetish, bready, caramel notes. Not bad, and certainly highly quaffable. Not too far from a carbonized British golden bitter.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Look; huge head off white, clear dark golden body, thick lacing.
Aroma; dried lemons, caramel malts, peels.
Taste; caramel, fruit peel, lemon notes far behind – leading to a fruity finish.
Slightly thin body, soft carbonation.
Overall; just average. Maybe an unfiltered hazy version would do better, maybe “St Erhard Ungespundet” .. I only suggest-

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This beautiful beer that deems itsself as the "Original" of the St. Erhard family is very very drinkable. It indeed takes some getting used to, but once one does one can learn to value this well brewed beer.

Klarglas-Flasche 33cl. Schmackiges fränkisches Kellerbier ohne Schnörkel. Sehr süffig, leider sehr hochpreisig.
