2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle from Systembolaget. Aroma hints of smoked sausage and wood. It pours pitch black with a nice thick foam. Taste is very sweet, and it tastes of.. well.. sausage, not great at all. This was a nice attempt at making an imperial stout, but it didn’t turn out all that great.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled@SBWF2010. Very deep rubyish brown colour with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is rather smoked peat malty along with some strong liquorice, mild vanilla and some slight tarry notes. Flavour is peated, liquoricy, a bit spices as well as a bit vanillaish notes. Also has some slight annoying strange sweetish notes, otherwise nice.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle @ SBWF ’10. Pours dark dark brown with a small head. The aroma contain foremost smoke, peat and whiskey, Also some vanilla and bacon. More of the same in the rich taste but with more of a roasted malty character to it. Also a very subtle acidity. A bit too much on the peaty side in my book.

Sample@SBWF2010. Black with begie head. This is an intense brew! The smokey and woody aroma gives this a warming and loveing first impression. There´s also some oak and coffee to it. Flavor has smoke, dark chocolate and wood as well. All the impressions from this brew come to you as a great punch and I like it!

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Near black, airy head. Laphroig-smokey tar aroma. Mid sweet with near full body. Intense flavour of licorice and tar, some grain and aniseed behind. More fruit yoaky whisky in the finish. A very intense beer, still without edges and distorted inky flavours.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sample at SBWF 2010. The islay smoke strikes at you right away, but the smokiness is very smooth and the beer is easy to drink. Fruity backbone but not a lot of coffee or chocolate, so it’s not at all your typical impy stout.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
It poured a pitch black liquid with some light brown bubbles on the surface.
Chocolate, coffee, whisky and smoke.
Chocolate, well bitter dark chocolate, coffee, booze, very dark bread and whisky.
Dry, semi-smooth mouthfeel, low carbonation and thick body.
This is a powerful brew with allot of flavour. Fairly well balanced but a bit to boozey for my taste. It’s the kind of beer you lean back and sip at for a while. I think it will appeal to those that likes whisky.
I don’t think this one should be enjoyed with food, possible some chocolate. But it can definitely stand on it’s own.
