Bottled. Cloudy dark brown, rich head. Some cocoa seeps through the vanilla aroma. Rather sweet and thin bodied with clean mouthfeel. The rich vanilla flavour comes across as artificial or at least superficial covering most of the cocoa flavour. Lightly resiny bitterness. Flavourful but shallow.

Bottle from the old SB, cons 2010-09-03, Göteborg as usuall I take a sniff out of the bottle, getting out more aromas that way... AR: to start with sour then nice chocolate then the sourness is coming back and so on, some vanilla can be discovered after beeing pored (odd) AP: pitch black body, raw cutton fluffiness (almost flying away) - beige in colour. F: thin chocolate flavor, the body feels hollow, metallic copper, na this wasn’t good Jessica - vs all the other ones that were put on the market to this date

ekstedt (4537) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 3, 2010
Bottle (33 cl) from Systembolaget. Dark clear reddish brown, medium fluffy beige head. Cocoa nibs aroma, some cloying vanilla notes, and slightly harsh burnt notes. A bit thin and watery with spritzy mouthfeel. Dry with a bit unpleasant bitterness. Not very good, tastes a bit like diluted Kahlua.

Jonte (1327) - Gothenburg, SWEDEN - SEP 3, 2010
Bottle. Black colour with a beige head. Aroma: lots of vanilla, roasted malt, burnt rubber/plastic. Flavor: vanilla, roasted/burned malt, coffee, cocoa, some off that rubber/plastic note in the flavor as well. Very dry. Thin body. Not my cup of tea.

ante (3374) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 2, 2010
Bottle. Pours out in a an almost opaque black colour with a rich firm tan-coloured head. Rich aroma of vanilla sauce, burnt sugar, roasted malts and milky chocolate. Medium-bodied with an intense vanilla sauce flavor at first which quickly changes to a really dryish roasted, almost burnt malts and black chocolate...which fades away quickly too... Rather thin body. Roasted malts, milky chocolate and lingering vanilla in the long aftertaste. I’m not convinced, re-rate object.

gyllenbock (2958) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 1, 2010
Bottle. Very dark brown with a good-looking huge tan head. The aroma had a clear tone of vanilla as well as coffee, burnt malt and some chocolate. The taste had the same. Unfortunately I was disturbed by something odd in the taste, like "rubber" or something like that. A lot of carbonation, light body. The finish was rather bitter. Drinkable beer but not a favorite.

Frovigalning (2024) - Örebro, SWEDEN - SEP 1, 2010
Appearance: 5/5 It poured a pitch black liquid with a big fluffy creamy brown foam, with lots of craters. Smell: 7/10 Coffee, chocolate, nuts, burned sugar, burned toast and of course vanilla. Taste: 7/10 Coffee, chocolate and vanilla. It was both sweet and bitter. Mouthfeel: 3/5 Dry, semi-smooth and with a medium body. Medium amount of carbonation. Comment: I didn’t know about the vanilla at first and I couldn’t quite place it until I started reading the bottle. Then it was quite obvious that it’s there. I think it added another dimension to the porter, I’ve tried porters with different spices and vanilla works fairly well. So far the best have been saffron. This beer worked great with chocolate. Which wasn’t a big surprise but they really balanced each other out in a great way. To sum it up, this is a nice porter with an interesting twist.
