Bottle. Poured clear dark brown with no head to speak of. A kick in the nose of bad bacon, peat and ash. Tasted much the same as the nose was overwhelming. First rauchbier, not my thing.

Bottle. An almost clear one, dark golden to copper in color and with a small, dense off-white head. The aroma is rather peated, with some meaty notes and dried fruits. Medicine and some bacon. It has some sweetness in the flavor, with peated malts, cured meaat and a touch of dried fruits. Full body and a pleasant carbonation level, quite dry. Lasting smoked, bonfire finish with a touch of dried fruits and cured meat. Quite nice this one, but I prefer the beers that aren’t peated. 140815

Bottled. Amber colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is smoked wet wood, some toasted notes, mild nutty and caramelly notes with some slight floral notes. Flavour is toasted, smoked wet wood and some maltiness to it. Nicely balanced.

ClubGonzo (3985) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 24, 2014
Bottle. Clear mahogany brown body with a small off-white head. Aroma is large peat and smoked meat tones, burnt sugar and hints of straw and wet grains. Taste is massive peat, juniper-ish soapy tones, smoked meat and hints of ashes and wet grains. Thin body, medium carbonation. A bit unbalanced in its lavish smokiness compared to the thin body, and the juniper touches doesn’t add much positive to the mix. Kind of a letdown, considering the input from Mackmyra - compared to their contribution to the lovely Gævle by Ægir, it’s a pretty long step apart.

Hermod (3129) - Vantaa, FINLAND - JUL 20, 2014
33cl bottle from SB. Dark brown thin white head. Smoke, peat, licorice in aroma. Flavor has peat, salt, roasted malt. Ok aroma, but very watery.
