St. Feuillen’s centuries old brewing traditions combine with Green Flash Brewing Company’s cutting edge brewing techniques to form our first collaborative brew: Bière De L’Amitié (Friendship Brew). A blond Belgian collaboration ale, brewed with St. Feuillen’s traditional yeast and spices. For a modern twist, we add rye malt, wheat malt, and American Amarillo hops. At the crossroads of collaboration, we dry-hopped the brew for more zest. It’s old-world Belgian Abbey-style meets new-world American craft brewing - and a friendship is formed.

[Tap] Translucent golden pour with a large cap of white head. Aromas of wet grass, some barnyard and some sweet fruity esters. Taste is of Belgian yeast, residual sugars, grass, spices and hints of alcohol. Lemon zest and floral hop finish. Interesting for sure. Tasting notes from early 2012.

On draught.
Pours a bright hazy yellow with a good head and nice lacing on the glass.

The aroma is floral & peppery... it has bright citrusy notes & some earthiness akin to wet limestone. It’s a somewhat mild bouquet but a very nice one indeed.

The flavor is floral and citrusy, there is a touch of honey-like sweetness up front but form there is spicy and generally dry particularly in the finish. The beer has some light banana and some herbal bitterness.

Way way different than Friendship Beer a’la Green Flash!

From tap @ Delirium. Hay yellow, white head. Nose: malty, hops, peppery, some spices. something is holding back the nose, cant appreciate. Taste is fruity, citrus, peach, metallic in the finish. rounded, balanced, bit alcoholic, but alcohol is well hidden. Overall okey beer, taste is better, refreshing, easy drinker. tricky.

Draught at Mugs split thy skull. Pours hazy yellow with lots of head and lace. Aroma is super nice well rounded soft wheat citrus and light spices. Taste adds a grittier spice after a juicy blend of peach, unripe orange, and a squeeze of lemon. Feel is soft, lively, and a little astringent. love this. Could drink all summer...or any day.

Bottle from South Bay Drugs: Almost didn’t notice this bottle since I expected Green Flash would have been bottling it. Created a monstrous formation of soapy foam while the liquid was a pale blondish color that had dense carbonation bubbles rising to the top. As for the nose, a spicy and soapy aroma dominates and has some scents in here that I just wouldn’t know what they were. Almost like a pine or jasmine smell with a distant aroma of lemon grass and root beer. The flavor was intensely spicy with an authentic strain of Belgian yeast, but not surprising since Green Flash has been known to brew up some tasty Belgian strong ales and as for St. Feuillien, making high quality ales is their thing. Has an undertone taste of lemon zest, coriander, and light touch of juniper berries. This is a heavy hitting combination of brewers and hit the spot on a sizzling summer day and after a week of no drinking.
