COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St. Feuillen’s centuries old brewing traditions combine with Green Flash Brewing Company’s cutting edge brewing techniques to form our first collaborative brew: Bière De L’Amitié (Friendship Brew). A blond Belgian collaboration ale, brewed with St. Feuillen’s traditional yeast and spices. For a modern twist, we add rye malt, wheat malt, and American Amarillo hops. At the crossroads of collaboration, we dry-hopped the brew for more zest. It’s old-world Belgian Abbey-style meets new-world American craft brewing - and a friendship is formed.

Bottle. Loud crack of the cork but no foamage. Long lasting big white head on highly carbonated gold. Lively clean spicy hop nose. Not extreme but smooth golden drink with some dandelion, strong hops and a bit of creamy butter. Alcohol is low key but you can feel the warmth in your body.

Rusty (1536) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - OCT 6, 2010
Pours a straw yellow slightly hazed with an overactive ice cream cone white head consisting of ever growing CO2 bubbles. Aroma is spicy hops, wheat, esthers, coriander, grapefruit peel, belgian yeasts, grass. Up front flavor is prickly, grassy, and spicy with the carbonation bringing out the nuances of the beer. Belgian yeasts, bananas, grass, spices, wheat, hops, many saison like qualities, etc but with zesty spicy american amarillo hops than you’d never find in a saison. Interesting brew.

Tap at Falling Rock. Pours clear gold with an average, frothy white head, low retention with light lacing. Aroma is average malt (bread, hay, straw), average hops (herbal, grassy), and average esters (apple/pear) with notes of pineapple, pepper, and ginger. Flavor is average malt (bread, cookie, toasted), light hops (floral), and average esters (apple/pear) with notes of pineapple, pepper, coriander, and ginger. Medium body and carbonation, low warmth and creaminess with a dry finish.

25.4 oz bottle. Clear straw yellow with a pillowy white head. Nose is yeast, dough, honey and herbal notes of basil and marjoram? Medium light with foamy carb; a bit cloying in a tripel kind of way. Taste is tangerine, bubblegum, toffee and wheat with bitter rye and clove. Maybe needs some time to settle.

Tap @ Small Bar San Diego. Pours a lightly hazed golden color with a small white ring. Great nose of Citrus, banana, clove, chamomile and other baking spices. A very well balanced BSA.

Pours golden/orange with a large white head. The aroma has earthy Belgian yeast, fruity/banana esters, pepper, chamomile, apricots, light band aids and soft spices. Medium crisp body with lots of graininess and sharp flowing carbonation. The flavor starts out fruity, lightly sweet and lots of spices that give dryness for balance. It is very yeasty as well. The finish is fairly dry with some hops showing through with citrus and spice and lots of soft gentle spice. Very nicely done.

oteyj (2130) - New Hampshire, USA - SEP 27, 2010
Hazy golden pour with a huge white froth. The arona is huge tart lemon and other incarnations of citrus fruit rind-mist. Tons of spice and yeasty dough follow. The flavor holds nectar fruits that quickly turn to spicy grassy hop bitterness. Medium bodied palate with a pillowy body and a clean finish,

Shared with oteyj. Pours a hazy peach with a monstrous, mountainous white head. Aroma is delightfully tart, with huge notes of lemon and orange zest, almost like an Orval but not quite Bretty, with an acidic quality that reminds me of a super aggressive berliner weisse. Flavor starts with a nice peach nectar, then moves to a grassy, spicy hop profile. High effervescence, medium body. Really a nice beer.

9/26/10. 750mL bottle. Cloudy orange pour with a huge thick but fizzy white head that cuts in half and lasts. Huge spicy aroma with phenols, yeast, rye, orange peel, skunk, pee, and more. Very sweet flavor of malt and orange peel with a yeasty kick. The flavor is a little light and hard to perceive because of the huge bubbly carbonation - almost too much there.

Bottle: Pours a hazy golden with a medium to large head. The head lingers nicely and ends up as a nice crown. I see some lacing on the glass as I quaff. I get some candy sugar sweetness and spice on the nose but I don’t see the hop aroma that I expected from this. The taste is sweet with some sweet citrusy hop notes, maybe the Amarillo hops. I do get a bit of astringency on the finish. It could be the alcohol or the hops but for 9.5% it’s well hidden otherwise. The mouth feel is heavier and I like it on this beer. Overall I liked this better than many American/Belgian collaborations.
