COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St. Feuillen’s centuries old brewing traditions combine with Green Flash Brewing Company’s cutting edge brewing techniques to form our first collaborative brew: Bière De L’Amitié (Friendship Brew). A blond Belgian collaboration ale, brewed with St. Feuillen’s traditional yeast and spices. For a modern twist, we add rye malt, wheat malt, and American Amarillo hops. At the crossroads of collaboration, we dry-hopped the brew for more zest. It’s old-world Belgian Abbey-style meets new-world American craft brewing - and a friendship is formed.

Grassy wheat aroma with some bubblegum, spice, and Belgian yeast. Sweet/tart flavor with some citrus and spice. Finish is bittersweet with more spice and some grassy hops. Different and really good.

Draft at Butcher & the Boar. Saffron in the nose? Regardless, fresh and fruity. Really outstanding. Some lace, faint white ring of head. Some funk. Phenomenal.

Draught at Gingerman NYC. Pours cloudy gold with a medium white head. Aroma is typical belgian yeast and some hops. There is a hoppy bite in the taste with some grassy, yeasty, citrus notes. A nice collaboration.

A soft pour into my Bruery tulip produces a four-finger thick (including a finger above the rim of the glass), pale, off white head. The beer is a rich gold color that shows a bright, brilliantly clear, yellow-gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of a mix of balanced spices, hay like notes, citrus & tropical fruit, and a backing, pale grain character. A second, more focused, look at the nose yields a really juicy, tropical fruit laden, Amarillo hop character; floral peach, lychee, candied mango, and juicy fruit bubble gum aromatics seem to jump out of the glass. Spicy notes of musty white pepper, ginger, lemon zest, and perhaps some earthy spice notes (sort of coriander like, but cleaner) play a soft, accentuating, and supporting role in the nose.

Dry for a split second, then fruity hops and esters along with a pale malt character contribute a sweetness to this beer. Peach juice, apricot nectar, lychee, ripe guava, and bright kumquat are all brought out by the hop notes. The finish has a grassy, sort of herbal note, a slight peppery, green wood character, as well as spicy from esters and fairly smooth higher alcohols; this can even get a bit sterile / medicinal at times in the finish. The beer is fairly light bodied, but does have some viscosity, but much of this is scrubbed clean by the ample, effervescent carbonation that at times can even seem foamy.

Not a bad beer in the end. I definitely like that the hop character comes through so well and that the spices merely play a supporting role. Having said that the fermentation character can clash just a bit with the hops at times, but still, overall this is kept in check. Despite it getting a little sharp in the finish, this beer is dangerously quaffable for a beer of this strength.

Bottle from CBC. BB 06/06/14. Poured into an Achel Trappist goblet, bright orange color with a well carbonated crackly white sudsy head, light webby lace left on the sides of glass. Nose is spices and citrus, nutmeg, anise, light lavender and more herbal notes along with fresh pulpy orange juice, lemon, light pineapple, tropical fruits and coconut milk. Flavor is lemony and citrusy upfront, super juicy and easy to drink. Spice is a bit more retrained in the flavor but more tropical fruits are noted, especially this creamy coconut note that keeps coming back to me and fits nicely in balance with the rest of the flavors. Relatively dry, light spice and rye in the finish. Alcohol barely noted. Very impressed by this one. Thanks to Evan from bottle shop for the recommendation. Get it while its fresh!

750 ml bottle from Northgate Liquors Blaine 30% to 50% sale this one was 50% off! Pours hazy gold amber with a foamy white head that dissipates to a foamy film and little lacing. Aroma is musty candied sugar yeast and dulled citrus hops. Taste is bitter hops yeast semi sweet candied sugar and lemon peel little dusty and musty, but still rather tasty. Palate is medium with a dusty chalky dry finish. Well worth 6 bucks!

Bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a cloudy golden color with a big bubbly white head. The aroma has yeast, spritzy citrus, grass and some herbal hops. The flavor had a big amarillo hop bite up front, yeast, wheat grass, citrus, light spicy notes with a dry finish. This does carry some heat.
