COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St. Feuillen’s centuries old brewing traditions combine with Green Flash Brewing Company’s cutting edge brewing techniques to form our first collaborative brew: Bière De L’Amitié (Friendship Brew). A blond Belgian collaboration ale, brewed with St. Feuillen’s traditional yeast and spices. For a modern twist, we add rye malt, wheat malt, and American Amarillo hops. At the crossroads of collaboration, we dry-hopped the brew for more zest. It’s old-world Belgian Abbey-style meets new-world American craft brewing - and a friendship is formed.

750 mL bottle poured into an oversized wine glass. Pours a hazy golden color with a two inch white head and nice lacing. Aroma is Belgian yeast, bready malt, and some hops. Taste is sweet and malty with some fruitiness and citrusy hop flavor. Very good.

Caged and Corked. A bit fuzzy, a medium well saturated yellow. Nice retention, thin amount of white head. Lots of stuff springing out of the nose, wow. I detect rye, bubblegum, lemon, and coriander notes. Taste is very spicy with the coriander out front, then the bubblegum, then a very dry finish. Nice.

Rated on 5-13-2013 (Corked and caged bottle) This beer’s appearance is a huge smooth white head with a long retention, hazy pale yellow body, slow rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is lemon, herbal hops, yeast, wheat, malt, spicy, and hint of pepper. The flavor is sweet, wheat, spicy, peppery, malt, and hops in the background. The mouthfeel is zesty and this beer is light-medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable and has a lot going on in the aroma and flavor. It is very good tasting, worth trying and a beer I will drink again if it comes my way.

Bottle at James’ house for the End of History tasting. Pours a clear gold with a thin white head. Soft musk on the nose, a touch of hops, yeast. Medium bodied, soft sweetness, musk. Vibrant carbonation, fruity into the finish with more lingering yeast and a touch of warming alcohol.

On draft at Isaacs. I was really impressed with this brew. Nice notes of dough, rye, Belgian spice, hay and hop. Finish is very zesty and bready. Well done.

Sampled at the End of History tasting. Aromas are zesty lemon, lemon grass, and biscuit. Pours pale with light lacing and good carb. Taste is dulled lemon zest, floral/lemon grass, and a hint of rye. Light and easy in the mouth with a warm malt feel but no detectable gravity. This is dangerously easy to gulp. Well done.

Bottle. Moderate aromas of grain and hay for the malt, grass and lemon for the hops, musty basement for the yeast, with hints of spicy apple and pepper. Head is large fizzy/frothy, white with excellent crusty lacing and is fully lasting. Color is hazy light amber. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is light to medium, slick with a fizzy carbonation and finishes moderately alcoholic. When this Belgian Strong Ale starts off cold it’s light and refreshing, as it warms the complexity and gravity catches up. Very nice.

[Tap] Translucent golden pour with a large cap of white head. Aromas of wet grass, some barnyard and some sweet fruity esters. Taste is of Belgian yeast, residual sugars, grass, spices and hints of alcohol. Lemon zest and floral hop finish. Interesting for sure. Tasting notes from early 2012.
