On tap in Beer Temple. Poured a medium brown with minimal head. Aroma of very subdued fruit and malt. Medium body, flavour of some coffee. A bit bland and uninspiring.

33cl bottle @ home, gift from Balazs, many thanks. Body is dark brown, Head is very big, rocky, creamy, brownish, mostly lasting, excellent lacing. Nose is coffeeish, Aroma is mild coffee, chocolate, light licorice, Taste is medium sweet, medium roasty bitter. Finish is moderated coffeeish bitter, slightly watery. Medium body, dry texture, lively carbonation. Easy and simple dessert beer, great one.

- Alcoholpercentage van 6,5% - Smakelijk biertje destijds gedronken - Complimenten aan de brouwerij- en brouwmeester - Nog geen topper, maar wel de hoge waardering die verdiend is ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma of malt, spice, nutmeg, clove, chocolate, toffee, roast. Flavour is roasty, medicinal and herbal. No idea why they called this Black Saison, it’s more like a mix between a (watery) Chocolate Stout and a herbal Winter Ale.

Taste sept. 2013 on beerevenening (bootles from H.O.P. Bissegem). Very dark brown color, with beige head. Aroma: bit sweet, complex, roasty and fruity. Medium body. Taste: sweet start, dark roasted malts, but also fruits hoppy, nuts touch, bitterness. Like it.

Beautiful brown foam, much carbonated many bubbles. I thought was the same recipe as Green Flash / St Feuillien Friendship Brew Black Saison, but no there was a big difference. This typical Belgian but with light roasted notes.

bottled, thanks mowbeer. rich black with a brown head; stouty aroma of tar, caramel and ash; sacher dort flavours, vanilla cream, cocoa powder; as much a stout as a black ipa

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 07/08/2014, at William K Annankatu, 20140708) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had sweetness, liquorice and Belgian style yeast. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, fruitiness, Belgian style yeast, liquorice, saltiness and bitterness. Afteraste was sweet, burnt and bitter. I found nothing resembling a Saison while drinking this beer. The beer wasn’t bad but the name is misleading.

Appearance: Black color with a fine beige head.
Aroma: Coffee and some acidic yeast notes.
Palate: Medium body. Moderate sweet with a moderate bitterness. Average carbonation. Dry ending.
Taste: Strong coffee, bready and yeast .
Overall impression: Well some do not like Black IPA because it is not IPA or a stout. I love BIPA. So I thought this would be a nice mix as well. Hmmm NO this did not work for me. Not a saison and not a stout. More a porter with acidic notes.
Personal stats: Bottle from Vinspecialisten Kolding Midtby, Denmark.

Bottled from speciaalbierpakket.nl, BB 07/08/2014, large sample, served in a trappist glass. Pours a dark brown beer with a big rocky lbrownish head, leaving a medium almost creamy thick lacing. Aroma has roasted malts, dark fruit, peppery yeast, coriander, anise and licorice. Slight sweet in taste, bit dry, bit bitter. Leaves a bitter and slight crisp finish. Bitterness from malts and some hop seems stronger as the beer is quite dry. Some sweetness comes from caramelly stuff. Slight metallic finish, but for the rest the balance seems to be quite ok. Quite high in carbonation, thin to medium body.
