3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Botte at Delirium Hoppy Loft. What a curious beer! Claims to be a cross between a saison and an oatmeal stout, but no oats in the ingredients? Anyway, jet black with not so much head. Very unusual tastes, malty but also some herbal spice - licorice, nettles, seaweed. Not the sort of thing you normally write about! I guess this may divide opinion but I thought it was really interesting and delicious.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Roasted malt aroma. Flavour has some bittersweet malty notes and also the light freshness and lively carbonation of a Saison.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Opaque black pour, creamy off white head. Aroma of dried fruits, very literally, rhum fruit cake, candied cherries, cocoa. Taste is sweet, fruity, chocolaty, kind of belgian-stout like. Palate is dry for a stout, sweet for a saison, high carb. OK experimental beer, wouldn’t drink it regularly though.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. It’s a more or less black one, topped by a dense, two-finger beige to light tan head. There’s a faint sour touch in the mostly roasted aroma, some dried fruits and cocoa as well. It’s medium to full bodied, with a nice carbonation. A bit sweetish too. Roasted malts and dried fruits in the flavor, not much bitterness neither in the start nor in the end. Overall, a nice one, but nothing extraordinary going on. 140110

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(33 cl bottle from supermarket; BBD: August 7th 2014; L4476 12:47) Pours a very dark brown bordering on black with ample, tan head that recedes leaving a surface film with lace. Aroma is pleasantly roasted malt with toffee notes and spicy hints of pepper and vanilla. Oily texture, soft carbonation, medium to full body and a sweet, spicy finish. Flavour largely follows the nose but has more of a spicy touch. A pleasant hybrid in my opinion.
