This is a good Belgian Strong Ale. Caramel, Earthy, and spicy flavors. Finishes clean, crisp, and dry.

Most likely served too cold. Little in the way of aroma, a pleasant palate and a fruity taste. Goes down well, but not spectacular or even tasty, just bland.

When is a St. Feuillien not a St. Feuillien? When it comes in a bottle, sized less than 1.5l (=Magnum). Mine is ’only’ 75cl., so it isn’t a St. Feuillien. Then what is it? A beer, commissioned by the St. Feuillien brewery, but brewed at Du Bocq. Unbelievable? Incroyable n’est pas Wallon.
<P> White head, fast reduced to a few mm rim; clear golden beer. Glue, apple, orangezeste, candi sugar in the nose. Dry-ish initial taste, grainy and herbal. Gets more sweet subsequently, carbondioxide participates in the taste. Herbal, dry-bitterish spice flavour, not identifyable. Medium bodied, slick MF. Reasonably dry, bit gassy, though not too bad. Bit middle-of-the-road triple. I’d like to try the original.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
orange uklar øl, med holdbart hvidt skum. Dufter af frugt og honning. Smagen er krydret, men ukompliceret. Svært at identificere specifikke smagsnoter, muligvis en anelse citrus. Bitterhed til sidst. Ikke bryggeriets bedste!

Herbal and fruity, bubblegum, yeast, wheat, and light mint. Hazy golden amber with fluffly white lacing head. Medium heavy watery body with light-medium carbonation. Starts rather sweet, with bubblegum esters, fruity notes, yeast, and light barnyard. Mild acidity, with a yeasty bitterness coming through in the finish. Sweetness hangs around, light mint, with some mild honey showing up, too. After is light chalky bitter, with some bubblegum and yeast remaining.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Head is initially large, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy dark yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (grain, toasted bread), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers), moderately yeasty (mold, cobwebs), with a note of clove, hint of pineapple. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Kind of dull, and a little tongue-coating in the finish (yeasty-filmy). Not bad, but not that great either.

Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately hoppy (flowers, lemon), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), lightly malty (toasted grain), with notes of clove, pineapple, orange peel, alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, lightly acidic. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Clearly the tripel’s kid brother...quite similar overall, just a little less rich (but more quaffable). Very clean, nicely balanced, and with a really nice yeast strain. And like the tripel, it’s not an in-your-face example...its beauty lies partly in what it does NOT have (overblown esters, aggressive/cloying sweetness, etc.).

Yeasty citrus nose, cloudy gold-orange, low tight sticky head. Yeast and citrus in the flavor too - orange and lemon tastes prominent but not overpowering. Grassy end with a detection of hops. Medium body. Cream texture. Lovely.
