This light ale has a deep golden colour with a smooth, frothy head. It is very perfumed with an unmistakable hint of aromatic hops and a fruity (citrus) note from the spices used in production. The body has an intense yet distinctive bitterness and a strong malty taste which is a delight to the palate. The overall effect, however, is a slight dryness and hoppiness.

Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head. The aroma is very appealing and enjoyable, I can smell fruits, hops, yeast, bread and spices. The flavor is very enjoyable with a decent level of complexity, there’s hops, fruits, spices, yeast and bread, the finish is mild and bitter. Medium to full body, the texture is very smooth and confortable, the carbonation is lively. I’m very surprised and blown away by this beer, it’s very good, very well made.

Light yellow color, cloudy appearance. Lively carbonation. Medium sized white head. Spicy, fruity, basic Belgian aroma with hints of licorice. Medium bodied. Strong alcohol in flavor with strong spices and mild fruits. Alcohol lasts strongly in aftertaste. Too alcoholic for my taste, aroma is nice with mild licorice.

good head, but a little laging in retention. The smell and taste of hops are well balanced. Nice dry palate, but a little more complexity would be fitting. Overall a rather good blonde for a rather largish brewery.

Nice aroma. The taste is damn smooth and soft. Fruity, a bit yeasty. Pleasant clean and dry palate.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2008 (Bottled, 0.33l) Slightly hazy golden, medium, creamy head (almost no yeast in this one). Mild, honey-malty aroma with some spiciness. Pale-malty, quite coriander-spicy flavor with juniper. Somewhat acidic. Medium body, quite refreshing. A well-made, crisp blonde - but not as tasty as in the bigger, more yeasty bottle. (Bottled, "Jean de Nivelles Blonde") Hazy golden color with a large, tight and pillowy head, plus lots of large, floating yeast clumps. Leaves a very thick lace into glass. Honey-fruity, dryish and yeasty aroma with bubblegum hints. Quite dry and acidic, fruity flavor with honey hints. No alcohol present. Medium-bodied with balanced, slightly foamy carbonation. A pleasant, enjoyable and refreshing, dryish blonde with some acidity and sourness.

(Bottled, 0.75l, 0.33l) Hazy, light golden color with a white, foamy and lacy, everlasting head. Mint, juniper, yeast and flowers in the very refreshing aroma. Lemony-fruity, sweetish and spicy juniper and anise flavor. Medium-bodied, slicky and sweetish palate with a high and foamy, but smooth carbonation. A crisp and refreshing, spicy and harmless summer blonde. A bit similar to Radermacher Rader Blonde.

Bottle. The foam is white and rather high; the liquid is clear and pale yellow-orange-beige.

The smell got that typical sour wheat bear flavour, there are also some notes of bitter lemons, spices, some yeast and a dry bitterness.

The carbonation is very strong and bubbly, a bit short however.

The taste is sour-bitter with flavours of sweet fruit candy, some earthy yeast, and citric peels.

Quite a run of the mill blonde Belgian wheat ale. It is OK, but nothing to write home about.

This is a good Belgian Strong Ale. Caramel, Earthy, and spicy flavors. Finishes clean, crisp, and dry.

Most likely served too cold. Little in the way of aroma, a pleasant palate and a fruity taste. Goes down well, but not spectacular or even tasty, just bland.

When is a St. Feuillien not a St. Feuillien? When it comes in a bottle, sized less than 1.5l (=Magnum). Mine is ’only’ 75cl., so it isn’t a St. Feuillien. Then what is it? A beer, commissioned by the St. Feuillien brewery, but brewed at Du Bocq. Unbelievable? Incroyable n’est pas Wallon. <P> White head, fast reduced to a few mm rim; clear golden beer. Glue, apple, orangezeste, candi sugar in the nose. Dry-ish initial taste, grainy and herbal. Gets more sweet subsequently, carbondioxide participates in the taste. Herbal, dry-bitterish spice flavour, not identifyable. Medium bodied, slick MF. Reasonably dry, bit gassy, though not too bad. Bit middle-of-the-road triple. I’d like to try the original.
