This light ale has a deep golden colour with a smooth, frothy head. It is very perfumed with an unmistakable hint of aromatic hops and a fruity (citrus) note from the spices used in production. The body has an intense yet distinctive bitterness and a strong malty taste which is a delight to the palate. The overall effect, however, is a slight dryness and hoppiness.

I know it is well made, it feels like an excellent blonde beer, but I just do not like this style. The sweetness is balanced by the bitterness, that is neatly done. Bottle from De Zwart in Wilnis.

Pours cloudy yellow with medium white head. Nose is yeast and citrus. Aromas are citrus, fruity yeast, grass and spices. Fizzy arbonation, medium body. Medium bitter alcoholic finish. Very correct Belgian ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Blond/golden colour, white foam. Fruity with astringent bitter notes. Dry and hoppy finish. Lively carbonation. Bit unbalanced but ok.

330 ml bottle @ August Von Trappe
Straw yellow to pale orange beer with persistent white head. Clear without sediment, hazy with it. Aroma has Belgian yeast, light tartness and rubbery anise. Flavor has yeast, fruits and anise. Palate is medium full and foamy. Finish has mild bitterness. Aftertaste is yeasty, fruity, herbal and slightly alcoholic when warm. Very basic, too much anise for me.

Bottle BBE: 28.03.16. Lightly chilled. Gushed when opened. Slightly hazy golden body with a medium-sized loose head. No lacing. Bread, corned beef and subtle barnyard on the nose. Immediate spice to taste, a little malty sweetness but mainly dry. A light to medium body, rough texture with lively carbonation and a slightly artificial/plasticine finish. Overall a huge disappointment - I expected to like this a lot, but it seems a bit confused - could gushing be an indication of infection?

Une jolie mousse blanche bien épaisse, une bière de couleur jaune, cela pétille finement. Un goût classique, aucune surprise, dommage pour une blonde belge à 7.5%. Pression 50 Cl Académie de la Bière.

On tap at Watering Hole. Nice big soapy head that lasted throughout. Big yeast aromas with apricot, peach and cinnamon present. Medium-bodied with a sweet and slightly tart taste on the palate with a nice dry finish. A little clove and nutmeg in there as well as it comes to room temperature.

Pours a slightly hazy and very pale straw color, lots of carbonation causing hefty white head. Slightly fruity and wheaty aroma, but yeasty smell takes over it. Taste starts sweet and slightly fruity, again quite yeasty with some soury feel to it. Not bad, pretty drinkable actually for a non-fan of strong Belgians.
