This brown ale has a marked ruby brown colour with a generous and lasting head. It has a distinctive aroma reflecting the wide range of ingredients used in its production. The fruitiness resulting from its fermentation blends harmoniously with a dominant liquorice and caramel flavour. The body is decidedly malty. The bitterness is the result of a complex alchemy between the fine hops and special malts used. These give St Feuillien Brune a typical dark chocolate appearance.

Bottle from the Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer has a ruby brown color and a large cream colored head, with a lot of bubbles. The aroma is fruity from the dark fruits. Also a hint of caramel, roasted malts and a little alcohol. The taste is fruity and also a little sweet from the liquorice and caramel. Also a light bitter is noticable from the roasted malts. The finish is warm and light bitter and is long.

Pours an a huge creamy light brown head that mostly diminishes. Body is medium red brown. Aroma contains moderate malts (cookie, grain, molasses), light hops (flowers, pine, lemon), light yeasts (leather) and grape, raisin, plum, cherry, brown sugar, cola and alcohol. Flavor is light acidic, then light acidic and light bitter, after that sweet and light acidic and finally bitter. Body is medium with creamy texture and soft carbonation. Quite nice.

Bottle 0,33l. Pours with big white head, that disappears quickly and left a small ring. Mahogany brown colour. In aroma there are caramel, some raisins, spicy notes and an alcohol, that is not well hidden. It’s highly carbonated and have a nice mouthfeel. In taste it’s sweet with some gerbal bitterness, but there is some alcohol. Nice one, but would be better if alcohol will be better hidden.

I’m not a fan of brown ale. So my score may be abit biased. This though is an excellent e.g. of a deep brown ale. Very caramel and full of spicey tones. With a big head. I wouldn’t buy again but I’m sure many brown ale fans will love this.

Heldere rood caramelkleur met een volle bruine kraag. Ruikt fruitig, gebrande mout en caramel. Smaakt caramel, fruitig, vanille. Beetje alcohol nasmaak.

33cl bottle from 't Drankenhuys. Dark somewhat pale amber brown with a slightly off-white soapy head. Medium body with light to moderate carbonation. Sweet with some herbal bitterness. Yeast, malts, brown sugar, caramel, flower, spices and herbs. A decent dark Belgian beer.

Pour is reddish brown with a tight, small bubbled tan head. Nose has a fair bit of dark malt, caramel is strong, light licorice, hints of apple and fruity esters. Taste is much of the same, light bitterness and herbal hop in the finish. Licorice mid palate, decent bit of richer malt up front, mostly caramel malts. Strong carbonation, lighter body.
