COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This brown ale has a marked ruby brown colour with a generous and lasting head. It has a distinctive aroma reflecting the wide range of ingredients used in its production. The fruitiness resulting from its fermentation blends harmoniously with a dominant liquorice and caramel flavour. The body is decidedly malty. The bitterness is the result of a complex alchemy between the fine hops and special malts used. These give St Feuillien Brune a typical dark chocolate appearance.

Decent double abbey ale with a soft palate and nicely balanced flavours.

Abbey Dubbel is one of my least favorite styles of beer. Unfortunately, this beer doesn’t do much to change my mind. Boring brown ale with dubbel flavoring added. Jager and beer with sugar and spices tossed in for fun. Mehh.

Tap at Paradiso Dupont. Oh joy another Abbey Dubbel. The pour is a clear, light strawberry ruby with a poof of an off-white head. Not much retention and spotty lace. Aroma is yeast and phenol heavy, red licorice, anise, plum, grenadine and Sambuca. Hmm. Taste is massive licorice, sweet cherry, pepper, numbing spices, medicinal cherry cough syrup.

Bottle @ home. Deep brown appearance with a foamy, light brown head. Big sweet candy sugar, Belgian yeasty brown ale nose. Very sweet, caramel malty, Belgian yeasty flavor with lots of candy sugar and a hint of licorice. Sweet yeasty, candy sugar finish.

1yr old Bottle from cellar. Pours dark brown with some sediment at the end. Excellent taste -- malt, fruit, very complex.

Bottle from Asao. Rich chocolate and caramel aroma, chewy and nice, with spices, raisin and dried plum, and a touch of citrus. Dark brown with lots of scarlet and a high tan head. Rich and malty, caramel, dried fruits, spice. Fruity and a bit tangy in the finish with but noticeable bitterness. Better than expected from them--a nice bruin/dubbel.

bottle@home: dark amber/brown colour with a decent head, tastes strongly of sweet malt, brown sugar & raisins with minor toffee & caramel, noticeable alcohol, creamy, full dody, feels a bit stronger than what you would usually expect of a dubbel, great thing here because it comes with added complexity & flavour

Bottle. Pours dark brown, creamy tan head. Sour malt aroma, sweet malt on the tongue, fizzy aftertaste.
