This brown ale has a marked ruby brown colour with a generous and lasting head. It has a distinctive aroma reflecting the wide range of ingredients used in its production. The fruitiness resulting from its fermentation blends harmoniously with a dominant liquorice and caramel flavour. The body is decidedly malty. The bitterness is the result of a complex alchemy between the fine hops and special malts used. These give St Feuillien Brune a typical dark chocolate appearance.

Bottle. Pours hazy brown with a thick beige head. Smell - caramel, chocolate and dark fruits. Taste - pretty sweet, with caramel, brown sugar, spices and dark fruits notes, slightly metallic aftertaste, alcohol is well hidden, but noticeable as it warms up. Medium body, med-high carbonation, nice creamy texture. Decent dubbel.

Bottle at home. Bit of a gusher, very lively pour with a brown-white foam head which soon diminishes. Aroma of bread, cereal and slightly earthy. Sweet taste to start then a lasting bitterness. Lots of great flavours: biscuity malt, sweet dark fruits, chocolate. Rich but lively on the tongue with a long dry finish. A very good beer indeed.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2015 Bottle. Gushed like warm champagne. Smells great, tastes really nice. Dry fruit and other stuff. So overcarbonated, it turns into foam in your mouth. You’ll feel like a rabid dog.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Deep brown colour, thick white head. Very malty beer, caramel, toffee, fruit cake, something bitter, herbal, licorice. Spicy hop, nice balance. I often find dubbels a bit lacking in malt character, not this one, good stuff.
