4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 kujo9 (1088) - North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA - DEC 18, 2003
On Draft 12/13/03: Lasting light beige head on a brown/ruby hazy body. Matly and raisiny vinous notes to start, alcohol as it warms. Plum fruitiness, clove spiciness, as well as other peppery aromas with a bready yeastiness. Malt and plums, peppery clove, as well as other dark fruit flavors and very well balanced. There seems to be a light roastiness and caramel flavor more noticeable as it warms. Finishes a little on the dry side with some fruitiness. Highly carbonated, medium bodied, but probably more fully, but it's made to feel lighter by the high level of carbonation, alcohol is present, but very pleasantly warming with a very smooth mouthfeel. Very well made beer, and very flavorful. I might compare the bottle version to the draft since I have a bottle at home.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Drew (2413) - Kent, Ohio, USA - DEC 16, 2003
On tap at Buckeye's Christmas in Belgium, 2003. Dark brown body, almost clear - something about the way it looked, I could tell this would be good. Thick with chocolate, raisins, caramel, yeast, fruits - bursting with flavor. It seems that there are spices in this, but they don't take over. Nice, mostly clean finish doesn't linger too long. I enjoyed this quite a bit!

Deep brown color. Ok dark tan head that dissapear fast. Very nice aroma (rasins, yeasty, citrus, smokey). The flavor surprised me a bit with its prickeling bitternes combined with fruits. Long smooth aftertaste. This was a magnum so and thanx for that ;-)

Thanks to wawood for this surprise! 11/02 on the cork. Deep mahogany color, nice head. Aroma of, well Belgian beer. Flavor centered around caramel and toffe notes, with a good bit of raisins, faint port notes. Very smooth, and quite tasty.

Thanks to BeanDip and her man for sharing this beer with me today!
Poured a dingy amber brown body, mediocre caramel colored head leaving behind a ring of lace. The nose and flavor were most certainly yeasty and full of fruit; pears, cinnamon-applesauce, plums, a fat dose of malt which brought the presence of caramel into play… Lite on the Christmas spice; a touch of clove and nutmeg… a doughy yeastiness. If the body had been a more viscous and alluring I would have pumped the rating…..Overall a pretty damn good Brew!
Thanks BeanDip!

Hazy brown hue with a small off-white head. The aroma had a sweet spice and aromatic hops pronouncement with hints of yeast esters and light citrus. Good spicy and tart initial taste. Undertone of a woody, almost vinous character. Dry finish. This had a lively yet soft mouthfeel, a bit chalky towards the end. Yet another very good Christmas ale at Argo0 and Kathy's party.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 HighGravity (926) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - DEC 10, 2003
Lower carbonation than the average Belgian ale. Mildly sweet, yeasty, nutty, and chocolaty. The flavor do not bind and form a whole beer.
