Also sold as ’St Feuillien Spéciale’ in the USA. This beer has a generous head - compact and firm. Its slightly brown colour is the result of the roasted barley. It has a dark ruby brown colour and a very intense aroma. The aromatic herbs and spices used greatly enhance its delicious smell. This beer is full-bodied with a smoothness that is the result of the synergy of caramelized malts, carefully controlled fermentation and long cold storage. St Feuillien Cuvée de Noël has a very subtle bitterness that is the dominant flavour in this harmonious ale that strikes a perfect balance between all the different ingredients.

Hazy dark ruby color with small light brown foam head. Aroma is heavy barley, but also wheat, hay and grass. Taste is complex, some sweet, but more so yeast, earth, grass. Aftertaste is somewhat bitter. (Velp 201302)

Dark brown red beer with a tan head. Aroma is malty with some notes of alcohol. Flavour is similar with some spices and a bit of caramel. Very nice Christmas beer. (Bottle 33cl)

La classica birra di Natale. Una strong ale molto carica. Di colore ebano con ottimi riflessi rubini, con ottima schiuma beige molto fine, compatta, cremosa e persistente. Al naso note vinose accompagnano le note fruttate (dattero e prugna secca) su una buona base di caramello. Speziatura quasi impercettibile. Al palato è ben carbonata, con un corpo strutturato. In bocca ancora tante note caramellate, di melassa, con buoni sentori di frutta passita (prugna). Finale secco con warming etilico sempre presente.

Couleur du caramel foncer, presque marron, avec une grande robe beige foncer. L’arôme des épices, fruits mûrs et caramel. Le goût et pareille, sucré mais pas trop, et bien équilibré avec une finale doucement amer.

330ml bottle, BB 14 Aug 16. Pours dark clear ruby red with huge dense tan head. The aroma has many Christmas pudding notes - cherries, brandy, raisins, dates, cinnamon, nutmeg and other spices. Notes from the aroma are all reflected in the taste, along with a gentle woody bitterness. Medium bodied and slightly oily. Very good.

Bottle; BB 14.09.2016. Pours a coppery red with a big, very well retaining beige head leaving some lace as it slowly drops. Looks really good, except for the tacky label. The aroma is modest in intensity, but extremely pleasant of gingerbread spices and aniseed, vanilla, and plums. Tastes almost as nice, it’s indeed spicy and sweet, fruity, but the alcohol shines through quite obviously, which, interestingly, I find to be a good thing in this context. There’s also vanilla and anise, brown sugar and almonds. Soft on the palate with thin, close to active carbonation. The mouthfeel is I’d say nearing watery. Red berry bitter and dry finish. Overall... although I wholeheartedly detest liquours like Jägermeister (or Gabriel and Agnes - the Estonian varieties), I get a similar character here, and for a strange reason I like it. And I like it a lot. Of course, the beer is obviously more pleasant to drink, more sweet and less boozy, but the spice bouquet is indeed similar. A pleasant surprise - I thought I wouldn’t like it as much as I do.

Piana dość obfita, średnio pęcherzykowa, sycząca ale trwała. Barwa mahoniowo rubinowa, opalizująca, spore musowanie w szkle. W aromacie karmel, przyprawy, skunks, nieprzyjemny stary chmiel i żelazo (test skórny wyraźnie to potwierdza). Niestety zawód. W smaku dość słodko, miodowo, czuć toffi, suszone owoce, kompot bożonarodzeniowy, przyprawy korzenne... Żelazo bardzo przeszkadza też w smaku. Goryczka niska, pikantna. Alkohol spory, lekko rozpuszczalnikowy. Nagazowanie wysokie, szampańskie. W odczuciu nieco lepkie.

Goed kerstbier waarin veel smaken terugkomen. Wel smaakt het wat geroosterd. Ik houd daar niet zo van. Maar gelukkig overheerst het niet.

33cl bottle at home (10 I 2016). Very firm light brown foam tops a reddish, dark brown ale. The flavours are Belgian yeasts, black pepper spices and some berries or red fruit. Not bad at all, although the yeasts tend to have a dirty flavour. The taste is medium sweet, without being caramellish, and with a lovely carbonation. There is a very subtle fruity sweetness with mint features. The overall mouthfeel is pretty flat, I’m afraid, with an almost oxidated, iron finish. A good standard winter beer.

Butelka. Barwa ciemno brunatna, wydaje się klarowna. Piana koloru ecru, wysoka, sycząca, opadająca do niskiej warstwy. Aromat pieczonej skórki od chleba, przyprawy, zioła, owoce. W smaku słodycz z wyraźnymi nutami kwaśnymi, owocowymi. Brzoskwinie, winogrona, morele, przypominające białe wino. Nasycenie wysokie, szampańskie, trochę przeszkadza w odbiorze, lecz zachęca do powolnego sączenia piwa.Goryczka zauważalna, krótka, niezalegająca. Bardzo ciekawe piwo, wyraźnie odróżniające się od innych świątecznych piw.
