Foffern (1062) - Bodø, NORWAY - JUL 9, 2013
Bottle shared with ClubGonzo. Has a clear orange amber colour, with a light beige medium head. There is a lot of anise in the aroma along with other spices, a little hay and caramel, and Belgian yeast in the background. The taste is similar with the addition of citrus, hops and more Belgian yeast. Mouth feel is smooth and rich, with a light to medium bitterness. The beer is complex enough and has a nice balance and is sweet and spicy.

Bottle, shared with Foffern. Clear amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Aroma is star anis, sugary raisins, candi sugar, hints of caramel and syrup. Sweet, but barely acceptable. Taste is bitter herbal star anis tones up front, then licorice, candi sugars and hints of caramel. Despite the sweet flavors, it somehow retains a certain balance; perhaps due to the spice additions. Medium body and carbonation. Nice, but only if you’re a fan of anise flavors in beer.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet, june 16th 2013. Hazy dark orange body, small white head. Light aroma of spicy yeast, peach, caramel. Taste is quite tropical fruity, with plums, yeast and pepper. Nice hoppy finish, with a bitter and sweet aftertaste.

Bottle @ home. Aroma is fruity and spicy hops, some malty notes in the back. Flavour is mild hop bitterness, herbal notes, some liquorice and old malt. Seems old.

Orange and hazy beer. Makes a big head but it disappears quickly. Aromas of pears, anise and Belgian yeast. A bit too sugary sweet and could use more bitter hops.

Huge lasting deep offwhite head. Clear amber body with strong carbonation. Fruity herbal licorice aroma with coriander notes. Dryish dense earthy herbal licorice taste with spicy coriander notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish aftertaste is like the main taste, maybe a bit more metal. Decent, but a bit dense and harsh. (0.33l bottle, wine monopoly.)

Bottle. Pours a brown beer with a nice, almost creamy white head on top. Aroma is spicey with some mild, fruity yeasty notes. Flavor is quite rich and full. Malty sweet with a typical yeasty tart finish. Well carbonated, decent mouthfeel but a sort finish. Quite a surprise!
