Bosskie (354) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 20, 2014
Sweet citric resin smell with subtle chlorine, salt, sour apples. Metallic and with a suggestion of leather. taste adds more caramel tones, some wood, pepper, pear. Fizzy with a bitter, maybe a bit too astringet. Grassy dry finish. A touch too much alcohol, but a delicious beer nonetheless.

superspak (2416) - Michigan, USA - APR 7, 2014
750 ml bottle into signature chalice, bottled on 6/28/2012. Pours lightly hazy deep ruby brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, pear, apple, light banana, caramel, brown sugar, toast, brown bread, candi sugar, clove, pepper, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast ester and dark/candi sugar maltiness; with good strength. Taste of raisin, plum, fig, pear, apple, light banana, caramel, brown sugar, toast, brown bread, candi sugar, clove, pepper, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of yeast/carbonation spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, fig, pear, apple, light banana, clove, pepper, caramel, brown sugar, toast, brown bread, candi sugar, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast ester and dark/candi sugar malt; with a great malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. High carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, moderately prickly, and lightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian strong dark ale. All around great complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/candi sugar malt flavors; and extremely smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Douberd (1999) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - MAR 23, 2014
750 ml bottle from a trade with Countbeer, thanks a lot! Poured into an oversized wine glass. ABV 9% Deep red brown colour on the body, with tiny bubbles rising fast to the surface in it. Two fingers of tan head, with good retention and even better after it has collapsed to about half a centimeter.Light lacing on the glass. Aroma is vinous, white grapes, light malty, caramel, some dark fruits and more specifically prunes. Taste is malty, quite sweet, with vinous notes, obvious alcohol, nicely fruity with more red than dark fruits now although the prunes are still there, caramel. Medium thick body, good carbonation, well maybe a bit high for a beer like that but doesn’t annoy. Dry on the palate. Overall quite good, no doubt, I expected just a bit more to be honest, not disappointed though.

erickok (3415) - Tours (and Paris), FRANCE - OCT 11, 2013
Darker amber with large bubbly head. Fruity, nice Belgian yeast presence, sweet liquor, herbal, strawberry, figs and some caramel. Taste is nicely malted with some aging character and reasonably sweet. The bosy is a bit too sticky perhaps -- or not full enough. Nice, fitting carbonation. Had a bit too high expectation from this one maybe, but still a very well made Belgian. (75cl from trade with Countbeer, thanks!)

Bottle Medium to bigger sized, vast but pretty quick changing fluffy creamy beige colored foamy head, on top of a murky dark orange to brown colored beer. Aromas of raisin, creamy malts, prunes, light vinous, caramel, some red fruit and toast. Flavours of malts, barleys, creamy spices, hint of alcohol, caramel, prunes, bitters, some yeast, toast, hints of molasses and herbs. Aftertaste is malty with creamy tones, some prunes, spices and caramel. Low carbo, soft creamy mouthfeel, medium to fuller body and a cry texture. Well balanced and easy drinkable, but expected more.
